Too much O'reilly Factor......?

I recently read this excerpt from Media Matters, a media watchdog Organization... I would like your feedback:

During the May 23 edition of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor, Bill O'Reilly asserted that "[m]any Americans ages 18 to 24 have no idea what's going on," stating that they "get their news from [Comedy Central host] Jon Stewart and their point of view from bomb-throwing entertainers." In fact, studies have shown that viewers of Comedy Central's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart are consistently better informed about current events than consumers of other media, and Daily Show viewers are considerably better educated than viewers of The O'Reilly Factor. Further, consumers of Fox News in general have been found to be significantly more misinformed about current events than consumers of other mainstream media.

During the June 14 edition of his nationally syndicated radio show, Bill O'Reilly again baselessly attacked viewers of Comedy Central's The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, calling them "dopey college kids" who must be "stoned" to watch the program. In fact, as Media Matters for America has previously noted, a study by the Annenberg Public Policy Center indicates that Daily Show viewers are consistently better informed about current events than consumers of other media, while Nielsen Media Research statistics demonstrate that Daily Show viewers are more educated and affluent than the viewers of Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor.

Responding to a segment on the June 13 broadcast of The Daily Show during which host Jon Stewart satirized O'Reilly's recent trip to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, O'Reilly suggested that Abu Bakar Bashir -- the extremist religious leader recently released from prison where he was serving time for his role in the 2002 Bali terrorist attacks -- could "bunk with" Stewart "when he comes to the USA." O'Reilly then characterized his own "program" as "serious" -- as opposed to Stewart's "comedy show" -- and asserted that while being "a smart guy," Stewart has taken to pandering to the "[d]opey college kids" who "are gonna watch him."

Update:

THIS INFORMATION WAS RECIEVED FROM MEDIA MATTERS, A NON-PARTISAN MEDIA ORGANIZATION THAT CHECKS THE VALIDITY OF FACTS ASSERTED WITHIN MANY "OPINION" SHOWS. FOLLOW THE LINK

Update 2:

IT SEEMS THAT EVEN WHEN PRESENTED WITH FACTS FROM A NON-PARTISAN THIRD PARTY SOURCE, THE CONSERVATIVE RIGHT STILL WANTS TO STAY MISINFORMED, RATHER THAN USE THIS CONSTRUCTIVELY AND MAKE AN EFFORT TO BECOME INFORMED

Bill O'Reilly and Fox News do not inform their viewers on the issues, they tell them the point of view of the network. I would rather watch Jon Stewart, laugh a little at the idiots out there thinking they are the smart ones, and find out about the issues in a "different" light.

BTW - both my husband and I watch Comedy Central's Daily Show and Colbert's Report and find great humor in them. And my husband is a History Professor at the local University, and I am a masters grad myself. But maybe we aren't educated by Bill O'Reilly's standards. . .

I think O'Reilly thinks he is living in the 50's. He is also going to get so tired of eating humble pie in the next few years, he might just as well pack up and leave now. I, for one, am tired of the plastic Culture Warrior regularly 'opining' about things he really knows nothing about. Don't worry, the novelty will wear off once you really start listening to him.

Both the daily show and o'reilly sort of use their program as more of a tabloid then a new show. But O'Reilly tries to make it seem like he is a news show, where the Daily Show lets you know when they are just being funny.

Quite so. They choose to stay misinformed, and to spread disinformation.

My favorite neocon rant lately is that WMD were found in mountain-high piles in Iraq but the "Liberal Media" has lied about it.

The "Liberal Media" is a neocon ruse. Ain't no such thing, they go with the Republicans big time. There are some things they can't keep a lid on, like Foley, but to portray the Con-stricted media as liberal is paranoia run wild.

I am watching John Stewart right now and he has an easy job, all he has to do is show what the idiots are doing and the laughs are in the box. Thank God for him, I need to laugh or I would be crying at the stupidity of all those who listen to O'Reilly and his kind and what they are doing to this country.

Please, even Jay Leno's "Man on the street" segments show how out of touch the 18-24yr old crowd is with; current events, common sense, and history. It's embarrassing how stupid our youth is today! We need to get away from consuming all our teaching efforts on the TASS test and get back to teaching. That way we'd have more educated and informed young people to become good "Republicans".Bah-Ha ha!

    Oh-yeah; Bill O'Reilly is,"Fair and Balanced"!

O'Reily is a blow hard, plain and simple. He reminds of the punks in grade school who would fleece kids for there lunch money. I can't tell you how many times I've seen his B.S. refuted. Why doesn't the right have there own version of the news like's Stewarts?

Another attempt to repeat, repeat, repeat and try to control the minds of perfectly healthy individuals who finally believe him because they watch nothing else but fox and are too lazy to check out the validity of o reilly's statements.

Jon Stewart speaks the truth and I know 50-80 year old people who love him. I like him too. His news may be presented as satirical, but it's right on the money as far as presenting the truth.

yes it would appear that too many people know little about what is really happening in america and I guess that may also relate to the media watchers who appear to have thier own agenda.

OReilly is about as middle of the road as you can get, he gives a fair opinion to what is happening, he is not as far right as linbaugh or as right as air america ( which is a real joke)
