Serious answers only please. Foot hit by a Dart.?

This may sound funny but i's not. I was hit on top of my foot with a dart (yes the typical dart board kind) it penetrated a few inches above my toes. It broke the skin and hit whatever bone is under there. I had some swelling last night. It hurts to move it and bend it. Even if the bone has a small crack can anything be done? I did have a little nausea last night. I don't have that this morning. It's tender to walk on this morning. Any suggestions?

Clean the site well with betadine and apply antibiotic ointment. Then apply a band-aid and a compression dressing such as an ace wrap. Keep your foot elevated, usually 2-3 pillows high is enough. Apply an cold compress, alternating 20 mins on, 20 mins off. If your condition does not improve in 24 hours, see a doctor. If you have any swelling, if your foot or the area around the site becomes red and warm to the touch, has any drainage or you begin to run a fever see a doctor immediately. You could have an infection. If you fracture a tarsal or metatarsal in your foot you my require a brace or cast. Phalanges (toes) on the other hand usually heal on their own.

I would start with the doctor to see what is going on. If the bone is broken, they may want to put you in a cast for a few weeks. If you have an infection, they will want to work with that too.

After that, pain relievers and elevating the foot are the order of the day.

The injury to your foot could get infected. If the dart was rusty or old, dirty etc etc....you may need a tetanus shot. Make a trip to the doc or emergency room. The longer you wait the worse it can get. Especially if it is red swollen or filling up with fluid.

I'd be more worried about tetanus. Go get a tetanus shot and your foot checked out asap. There's not much they can do about a broken toe but you need to the basics done and a tetanus shot to make sure nothing else could result from your injury.

I am not trying to scare you but this could be an emergency.

If the toe is broken and the wound is open it may introduce infection into the bone and that is an emergency. What you need is an xray to see if it is broken and you may need a tetanus shot as well.

Please go and have it checked out now

You need to get to an emergency department and have your foot looked at. You also need to have a tetanus shot, if you haven't, or can't remember when your last one was. Tetanus is often caused by dirty or rusted metals penetrating the skin. Sometimes the amount of rust is so small, you can't see it on the object. Tetanus can be deadly. Go to an ED ASAP.

while God is first calling you the outcomes could be staggering. Goosebumps are often a consequence. often as Christians mature they long for the sensation that they had while God first responded their prayers. Why is this? possibly it is God's way of letting doubters understand he quite exists. Do you examine the Bible? If no longer, or you have and by no potential understood it, attempt back. it is superb how God can open your eyes, and you will start to appreciate recommendations that appeared foreign places to you formerly. understand this. God exists. I even have experienced him first hand fairly some cases that I now no longer have any doubts. he's not a fable, no longer in basic terms does he grant peace into your existence, he provides eternal existence into your destiny. he's not a jailer, he brings freedom to disclaim devil's temptations and the dying he brings.

For the pain take 800 mg ibuprofin with food. Wrap your toe, and keep it elevated. If it starts to throb, lie down and keep your toe above your chest level. If its above your heart, it wont throb as bad. You are right... Even if you broke your toe, the only thing a doc can do for you is wrap it up, as I have suggested and give you stronger pain meds. I broke my toe when I was younger and nothing can really be done. Good luck

It's not funny and I hope you feel better. Better safe than sorry, GEEZ, I HATE THAT SAYING. You should have it checked. Not for a fracture though, but around these neck of the woods, we get tetnus (spelling?) shots for stuff like that too. My son's friend had a similar incident, stepped on a nail, didn't get the shot, now has lock jaw, had an infection and so on. Sooo not worth it. Feel better.

Well I would say, if it is fractured, or broken, its a toe. They cannot do anything for a broken toe. What you can do however is tape it to the toe next to it to keep it stable. Go to the pharmacy, if you can of course, and by the medical tape, and tape it to the toe next to it. The nausea what probrally from pain and shock. Good luck
