I know it's weird but... Why do ghosts stay on earth???

They're not ghosts, but rather spirits. Those that see them are merely in touch with the spirit world. When we "cross over", we move in to the third dimension, enter in to the spirit world. They've always been here walking among us, but only a few get to see them.

There are 2 kinds of haunting that scientist believe to occur. The first is a Residual haunting. With this kind of haunting, the "image of the past" is recorded in the environment, kind of like a VCR tape does, and the right conditions "play" the image. This is not really a ghost but more of a "recording" of the past.

The second kind of haunting is an intelligent haunting. This kind of haunting is where the ghost/spirit actually interacts with the living. There are many theories on this kind of haunting, but to date we do not have any actual evidence to support it.

One interpretation is that the ghost had a violent death and is somehow "stuck" here. Another is that the ghost has unfinished business to attend to before they can "move on" and yet another is that we are glimpsing real events that are happening in other times and we are communicating with living beings through a different plane of existence to our own.

Ghosts are MIND'S that haven't "moved on". What this means is that there is some unfinished business that they have to get the "living" to be aware of.

A lot of the time, ghosts try to communicate with the living because they try to make them understand why they died - it may not be what people believe to be The Truth.

A very interesting techinque called "programming your sleep to know the truth" can help people know why (find out the truth) people have died.

It involved saying your desire to know the Truth before you go to sleep and the important step is to watch your dream that night to get the answer.

Actually, they are not "on earth". The are in a low-level dimension of the Astral region, a subtle vibrational realm of existence which exists in the same time-space with that of the earth.

What keeps Souls just beyond the physical realm is attachment. Either hate, denial, or of a low character [little Spiritual evolution]. Also held in this low-Astral level are those who commit suicide, until the time fated for them to die arrives, at which time they proceed for evaluation, then time spent in some place for re-education, and finally reincarnation.

Peace

No according to some religious believes there are several planes. Ghosts are normally belong to some other planes. Greater attachment such as attachment over the body or on the house (lived when in physical form) keeps them here.

Well, from what I've heard in the past it could be for any number of reasons. First, it could be because they have "unfinished business" here. Or, they may not know they are dead and they are just continuing on with their "life". Maybe they just don't want to go. Or maybe they are watching over someone. Actually, I think it could be any one of these things that keeps a spirit here.

I'm not sure that they do. There are enough strange things that happen on this earth to cause me not to disbelieve in pretty much anything. I try to practice what was once called "enlightened disbelief." I need to be shown. I tend to like the theories which talk about energy and it keeping it's "human" form and not returning to wherever it goes normally when we die.

In Revelation it says that Satan and his demons were hurled down to the earth, thrown out of heaven. Knowing that they only have a short period of time, they are here to reek as much havoc as they can.

I feel sometimes they don't realize they are dead...or they have unfinished business. Of course there are those nasty evil ones who roam around just looking to frighten you because they feel the need to. Those are the ones you need to ignore and ask to leave!

They still identify too heavily with this realm. They are not at peace and ready to cross over into the next realm.
