you should see a doctor to determine if it is a viral or bacterial infection. if viral it will resolve it self with moist and meticulous cleansing from the inner eye to outer eye with separate tissues for each eye. wash your hands frequently. if it is bacterial your doctor will order antibiotics. that has to be determined by culturing the drainage.

It should go away within 2-4 days without antibiotics, but I do recommend if you are trying to save money, buy a gallon of purified or distilled water and run it over your eye frequently, that will help with your eyes natural processes of eliminating outsiders(bacteria or free radicals) that don't belong.
