When I power down my computer the "Num Lock" light stays on. Why?
My computer and monitor and all that is all plugged into a 6 outlet surge protector. I even turned that off after shutting down and the light still stayed on.

Look, if you completely dismantle all power supply connections, no light whatsoever can stay on. period.
As of your keyboard's numlock led staying on, that's because you have "Keyboard On/Wake" turned on on your BIOS config. With this, you can turn on your computer from your keyboard, (instead than from the cpu case! ;) ). To turn it off (in case you don't like it, or don't use that functionality), restart your computer and at the first steps of the boot up process (a black screen with the "device initiation process" being displayed in white square chars", known as POST), press the 'del' key (found right over the "left arrow" key), and you'll enter the BIOS config page. At this point (anything you touch, could ruin your motherboard forever... so do be careful), look for the Advanced PnP features and find a "Wake on/Keyboard on" option wich should be at "Enabled", and turn it to "Disabled". Then press the "esc" key until you get a "save changes before exit?" question message, to wich you'll answer affirmatively, and wait for the system to restart.
When all that is done (pheeew!), shut down your computer again, and the numlock led should turn off along your system.

Try unplugging the 6 outlet surge protector. The light means that the keyboard is still receiving power.
If your keyboard is remote then you need to turn of the switch or just remove the batteries.

lol are you serious thats kinda funny. I know that a ATX system still has power supplied to the motherboard even when the power is off. Try to trun of your surge protector or unplug it from the surge protector this will confrim if my ATX standby power theory is right.

Maybe your keyboard is possessed?
The light stays on permanently, even with the power cord unplugged? That can't be right.
Er, do you have a wireless keyboard? If you do, then that would explain a lot.....
