I have a auto window malfunction on my 2002 Ford Explorer, can you help me?

The explorer has had 3 problems with the windows take a choice...

The switch does sometime go bad.. usually it will feel different than the others if it goes bad.

The lift motor can go bad sometimes too and sometimes a swift hit can get it started long enough to move it up ... but the door panel is pretty padded so hit hard...

The thing I see is the regulator (what brings the window up and down) is cable operated and snaps (you can tell if it's the regulator if you push the button and hear something hitting inside the door (that is the cable whipping around.

That first answer must have come from a "moron". I hope before he tries to "sauter" he learns to spell solder!

Your lift motor has probably died. They are not to hard to replace, but the regulator/motor assembly is all tied together. They are riveted in place. Not a repair for a novice!

Something you can try is to slam the door a few times, and "bump" the inside with your palm a bit. That may "jump start" the motor enough to get the glass back up. A good independent shop can help. A dealer will be expensive.

you might not believe this ,but it works. With ign. "ON" ,push switch to "UP". Do the warning lights in instrument cluster "dim" a little bit ? If so , Hit w/ fist , approx 6" from front of door and about the middle of the door, motor is in than area , and sometime stick because of a burnt spot on the armature due to holding the switch in DOWN after the window is down. This won't fix the problem , but it might get the window up for now. I've been doing this for 42yrs. and people just look at ya and say" How'd you do that?"

On the back of the fuse panel door/cover there should be a map of the fuse locations. With each number there is a list with that number next to it. That should let you know where that fuse is to check it. It sounds to me like maybe its that or a broken wire. If the motor was fried you should still hear something making contact. Try looking at that first then take it in if that is not the issue.

before you take it to the garage,check out your switch,it could be bad.you can also check the motor,by running a piece of covered wire from the pos.term.of your batt.to the plug in (first,unhook the plug)and touch each term. of your plug-in and see if the motor works,if it does then change the switch.

Moron...pop it out, n wiggle the wires. Chances are, you have a loose wire underneath your switch. This 15 year old kid isn't a dumbass, even if I am on my 2nd car. Either pop it back in, or sauter it on. Without paying them $60/hr, moron.
