Vietnam War?

Notice that for quite some time that the Dems have been criticizing President Bush for his handling of the war. The Dems say they can do better. Can they? Look back at the Vietnam War.

The Dems fought that war and that was a disaster. We lost 58,209 troops in that war and we sent around three million soldiers there. The war lasted around 30 years and the Dems could not even complete the primary objective which was, To ensure that Communist did not take over the country. There was even controversy on why we went to that war when it had nothing to do with the U.S.

Now take a look at the current war. We have only fought for around 5 years and we were successfully able to complete our primary objective, which was to ensure the freedom of both the Afghan's and the Iraqi's. We have only sent around 300,000 to both regions but yet instead of losing 58,290 soldiers, we have only lost around 3,000., which by the way is the fewest amount of KIA in any war that the U.S has fought in.

Update:

So from reading the following, who is obviously able to follow through and win and not embarrass the U.S? Republicans. Who was able to complete their primary objective? Republicans. And please don't give me crap that Vietnam as worse than Iraq b/c its not. In Vietnam, we didn't have maniocs blowing up themselves. So it's been proven by history, which never tells a lie, that when it comes to success, Republicans are able to see it through, whereas Dems are disasters waiting to happen.

Other than the fact that the Vietnam War only truthfully lasted less than twenty years (1959 – April 30, 1975), you are entirely correct.

You seem to be near dead on with your analysis. I am a Vietnam Vet and was with the Navy firing some of the last rounds before the Kissinger inspired cease-fire in Jan. 73. It was obviously a Democrat war from the start until Nixon took over in 1970, whereupon the goal was to GET OUT. It took 3 more years to get us out but he did it and became the most popular president in history - having simultaneuously opened up trade with China and boosted the economy as post-war rececession pressures arose. Alas he allowed his loyalties to his staff blind him to the damage done by their illegal activities and was eventually dogged out of office by the Democrats - who have since managed to set the stage for ME instablility and worldwide horrors while winning the Nobel Peace prize among themselves. The same Democrat "peace at any cost" propogandists that got 2 million Cambodians killed after the Vietnam shut-down see nothing wrong with a few milion Muslims killing themselves and other world citizens by shutting down any effort in Iraq. As it was with Vietnam, the enemy votes early with deadly actions designed to drive their voter block to the polls on election day. It usually works.

Um, the Dems did not fight that war alone...the troops were and are usually mostly Republican, the Dems started the war under LBJ. Nixon did not complete the objective either...

What did we free Iraq into? Daily sectarian violence and becoming the magnet for terrorists so that "we fight them there so we don't have to fight them on our soil?" I am sure the Iraqis appreciate that.

Um, no, the Vietnam war did not last 30 years, nor did we send 3 million troops there. We had troops in Vietnam from 1965 - 1973. The US was involved in Vietnam prior to that date, but the US has also been involved in Iraq for far longer than we have had troops there.

And some people learn from their mistakes. The republicans who initiated the Iraq war clearly did not learn anything from Vietnam.

the libs will only focus on the facts that support their views.

Those facts are invariably the perceived failures of the republicans.

The dems will never admit to the horror that the Case-Church amendment wrought on SE Asia.
