Runny Nose?
My 17 month old son has had a runny nose for a couple of days now. I've tried Benedryl and Dimitabb and its not working. I can't seem to find an over the counter medicine for just a runny nose. He doesn't have a cough, fever, or chest congestion. We don't have health insurance and I can't afford a doctor now, so please don't suggest it. Any mothers out there know of any products or home remedies for my little one runny nose? Thanks.

Try Little Noses its in the pediatric medicines dept in most stores (grocery, drug or dept*target walmart, etc* stores) Also there is a vicks rub for babies and the vicks vapor plugs for children both work great for nasal congestion as well as chest congestion even though you said he doest have chest congestion. Little noses makes a saline drop and i believe they have an oral solution too. but they saline drops work fine for my son. Good Luck and God Bless. Hope this helps. oh and if he hasnt gotten all of his teeth in yet he may just be teething

its normal for a child or toddler to have a runny nose for a week or even longer with a cold. you can give medications like dimetapp but In my experience, time is the only thing thats going to help his runny nose. You can try johnsons' vapor bath at night, tends to clear out the nose for easier sleeping. PS most states offer free or extremely discounted health insurance programs for children, you really should look into that.

He might be getting his 2 year molars. In that case it might clear itself up in a couple of days! Otherwise the only thing I can think of is Vics vapor rub, although I don't think it will work, that's used to treat a stuffy nose. But you can try it.
Do you still have a nose sucker? You know those little ball things that you squeeze and stick up their nose to get the snot out?
You can just use that religiously to keep him cleared out. Sorry I can't be much help.

My doctor told me to just let her nose run until it's through. It usually wont last for more than a week and it doesn't hurt the child, so she said to just let it be, as long as she doesn't have a fever.
