Is it bad luck to borrow a wedding dress?

I think it's a wonderful idea. Not only are you wearing a dress that was special to someone else, it's saving you a bundle on expensives. So, I would consider it lucky.

If you love the dress, and feel beautiful in the dress, then please by all means wear it. You have the most happinest and most wonderful weddings of them all...

Absolutely not, but then I don't believe in bad luck. If you do, and it really bothers you don't, it may not be the bad luck that ruins what ever you're afraid of, but the fact that it bothers you that you borrowed a wedding dress.

If you like it, and its beautiful, and you can see yourself in it on your wedding day. Borrow it!!

I have only ever been to one wedding where the bride borrowed a wedding dress. That was my sister's. She borrowed our aunt's. Needless to say both marriages ended up badly. My aunt's husband died about 5 years after they married and my sister ended up divorcing her husband after only 3 years. I could understand loving a dress, but try to go to a bridal store and find one similar. You want your dress to be your own and to keep for a long time. I went to a store and asked to see their clearance dresses and ended up only paying 200 for my dress including adjustments. 300 total with my veil and headpiece only because I special ordered the veil and headpiece since we had a scottish wedding. But anyways, I would say don't borrow the dress if you don't feel comfortable doing it.

You could use that as part of your something borrowed something new...as far as bad luck....I guess I would look at how the marriage worked out for the last women to wear it!

I wouldn't say bad luck. But if everyone's already seen it before because you're all friends, it might seem tacky. Otherwise, go for it! I don't believe in that luck stuff anyway. I wore black to my second wedding and we're perfectly happy!

No its not. because the dress has nothing with the relation ship. and it cant be bad luck its just the dress :D

:) of course not. it's bad luck if you ruin it, that's it, because it's somebody else's. some grooms rent their tuxedos anyway, so why can't you borrow for now?

I rent my gown too, but my husband bought his tuxedo. Well his tuxedo is less pricey than my gown if I were to buy it.

A borrowed dress is not what constitutes a failed marriage.

If you are comfortable with borrowing the dress, then that's what you should do.

No, not at all, in fact back in the day, almost everyone borrowed the gown.
