Think about it and be honest: Aren't bathing suits really becoming unnecessary?

When you really think about it, you spend a good deal of money to buy a few inches of cloth for the sole purpose of wearing it in water and getting it totally wet. In any other situation people go out of their way to keep their clothes dry, so why buy special clothes to get them wet? Obviously, I'm being rhetorical, but I really think that the prudishness and modesty that tries to compel us to cover our "naughty parts" (and remember how those parts change over time and from culture to culture) is really something to be examined and, hopefully, relegated to the past.

Let's hear what you think...and maybe let us know your age and where you're from...age and cultural differences will possibly be significant.

I'm 21, female, from Long Island (NY)...and from the tone of the question, you know what my feelings are!

Thanks for answering...and bare hugs!

Yes, I think they are becoming unnecessary. Especially when you consider a lot of bathing suits barely cover up anything at all. I also think women should be allowed to walk around topless. Nudity is not something to be ashamed of, its the most natural thing in the world.

I think you can pull it off without being embarrassed, but I also think you can do better. You do have a very good figure. Front looks great, tummy and thighs very good. As for the bikini top, I'd rather see an underwire, bra-like top. The points that the straps are attached to make you appear smaller than you are. Back is good too. However, I think a full-coverage in the back would flatter you more. There are maybe four women alive that do not hate that part of their anatomy. Men seem to like it. Lesser fabric in front works though. Land's End has separates, some with full-coverage bottoms. Sometimes Land's End is a little "safe", but check them out. Also, you could buy a simple bottom from them, and get a sexy top from Victoria's secret. I don't answer questions in parenting because my kid is 40 now, and never had any problems with her. But I do know what it's like to endeavor to get your body back after childbirth and the ensuing years.

I have no problem with nudity, actually, I enjoy it.

but there is still the old stigma for men,

the same question always comes up,

"what if I get aroused, (erection)"

Girls get aroused, and have sexual thoughts, but they had this well, only once have I seen a really aroused woman, by the drip emanating from her labia, and wetting her leg.

But for men it's quite visible, until such time they the rest of the population accepts men with the momentary arousal, it will be difficult to achieve. I have the occasional arousal, other see me and some get offended not many though. My wife gets a little suggestive and away I go, it's not my fault we are built this way.

Some of those women say it's intimidating, I tell them stop looking and being a peeping Tom.

Frankly I get 4 a day, for no reason, I gave up covering it up or ducking for cover. or if i see some woman who is a turn on, or does something suggestive then I have more.

I have asked a few friends (female friends) do they get aroused and said yes many times, I asked is It ok for a man to get visible aroused, all but one said they enjoy seeing a man aroused, it gets them aroused, but one said no, it's offencive, I asked it's that sexual discrimination, you do not control your arousal why should we it it is innocent ( I found out she had a bad experience with another man in her life)

I enjoy nudity and hate the feeling of a wet suit

bear hug back, don't mind my friend every so often, he just wants to look around

When we all walk around naked, that is when the opposite sex will become completely boring. Don't you know that even partially hidden treasures are still more alluring and tempting?? Cultures where nudity is so normal and there are no taboos become boring cultures, where nobody cares if naked bodies are a couple of feet from them. Where is the excitement in that, when it is all there to see?? I've done both - with and without, and I have to say, I prefer a bikini , and prefer to see people in their 'suits' - it's not prudish, but are you really that desperate to show off your bits, or to see those of others?? Leave a little to the imagination, it's much more exciting!!

Interesting...for some, swimsuits aren't just a few inches. Quite frankly, I don't want to see everyone who goes to the beach naked. There are some things--not just naughty parts--that swimsuits cover, and even then, they're sometimes too skimpy. Look at people in Rio de Janero--they wear less than everyone in the rest of the world, but they're quite happy w/their swimsuits.

As for myself, I wouldn't go to a beach naked because there are some places where I would not like sand to go.

BTW: If you're desparate for a swimsuit, sometimes you can buy mismatched ones for $5.

Okay, I'm sure you want some kind of info. on me...how about height & weight? 5'7" 105 lbs.

Bathing suits leave something for the imagination..They dissect the wearers body..BESIDES i think bathing suits offer a form of public safety and hygiene..Can you imagine being in a beach bar or estaruaunt or picnic table wear everyone was sitting around without one..You would want to wash everything before you sat down so that you would not get deathly ill from E-coli...Kids today still have accidents and so do adults...So this naughty parts is wear this type of thing is cultured........

Are you saying that people should swim naked? It would take some getting used to; but if people do decide to do this; I would say at least they should have the body for it. I have not worn a swimsuit in a decade because of weight problems. I don't go naked, I just don't go swimming. I don't care if they sell suits that are slimming, striped, or come with a sarong. You can still see that I am fat. I know this is superficial, but if your idea catches on, I would hate to see a bunch of naked fatties running about the pool in my apartment complex.

I think I'd like to have the boys covered in the ocean, but for lakes and pools bathing suits are a little silly.

To all the people who don't want to be seen without one/don't want to see fat people without one--you can't say that you like wearing a bathing suit or seeing a fat person in one either! The option should be there for people who aren't as 'modest'.

21 year olds? Definitly drop the Bathing suit!

But just think about the women with extra tonnage!? The ones that make "Fat" an obscene word. Or the ones that are wrinkled and old?

    Have a heart!?

    Bare hugs!

I personally don't want to see naked old or fat people. I don't think there's anything wrong with nudity in the presence of others who are OK with it.

I want to know how you think people's privates change from culture to culture. I mean a dick is a dick with only a few differences. If I had my platoon line up so you could only see their wankers, could you tell me from what culture they were raised?
