Bathtub won't drain. Not clogged, used Drano, clothes hanger, snake..nothing works.?

the reason you are gettin water out of the tub spout (outflow as you call it) while the shower is on is because your divertor is bad and needs repair or replacing-probably want a plumber for that since there are hundreds of different types of valves out there.....the drain problem could be several things.....do not use drano for it has harsh chemicals and could damage your pipes in the long run....while the plumber is there repairing your tub valve let him snake the drain and determine what needs to be done from there!

Take a look into the drain and see if you have a hairball clogging the drain. The hair collects on the popup and anything else it can in there. It is usually mixed with old soap and comes out as a black gunky mess. Rubber gloves and needle nose pliers recommended. On second thought, call a plumber if you are wealthy. The drain popups often need to be turned about 1/4 turn to be removed.

Sounds like what happen at our place. We had to call plummer.

He brought in Device on a skill hand drill. The devices went all the way approximately 24" into the drain {keep in mind this devices is flexable, that had a edged blade like at the end.

This cut through lots of hair, in the line as he pulled this out several times. Now the plummer informed me Not to pour tons of Draino down this drain any more,or CLR this does damage to the pipes. After he cleaned out our drain. The plummer recommended after this clean -out for $125.00 took only 20 min.

The plummer stated" You, need to pour down approximately

1/2 cup of commom liquid bleach and Hot boiling water approxmaely 1 to 2 cups. Then let stand and turn on hot water another 2-to 3 min. This needs to be once every 30- days."

So, my next time I went to our local Home Depot in Antelope, Ca

I checked the Rental Shop area and they have the same tool as a rental for approximately $10.00 with a 4-hr min.complet the skill drill and special tool felxable with the cutting edges. That are different sizes deepending on the drains.

Have him go to your local Hardware store and purchase the correct washers/o-rings. If it still doesn't work, I'd just go get a new faucet set.

As far as the tub not draining, you may need to contact a plumber to have your line flushed. You may not have a clog near the tub, but instead, further down the line.

The tub in my long-haired daughter's bath occasionally clogged.

I bought an elongated (2 feet or so) piece of barbed plastic (don't remember name) that I could insert into the drain and, when pulled out, would catch hair stuck in the drain. When we used this often enough, it prevented drain clogs caused by hair.

...if you have a basement, go there and take off the trap and clean....

there are 'power in a can' for that purpose, chk it out at your nearby hdwr store.

try a hose, put it in, attach a rag around it to secure no leakage back in the tub and have a friend turn on the hose full blast...sometimes works.

if your on septic, it may be backed up.
