Rechargeable Batteries?

I'm new to this subject and need help...

So when something with rechargeable batteries won't turn on, and I was trying to use a USB port to charge it, and still it won't show life. Does that mean something is wrong, or is it normal?

Here's my problem my mp3 player suddenly turns off and it won't turn on when you press the power button. And then when you try to charge it with your computer, it still won't show any life.

Update:

And oh yeah, I just got it a week ago and it happened once already, before turning back to normal. It just said that it had low battery...I just want to see if anythng is wrong

Update 2:

It said that you can either charge via an adapter or computer....does tha mean an adapter is better?

It might be totally dead Leave it plugged in for a while and try again later

A USB port isn't a charger. Either check the batteries in the player or find out if it takes a charge adapter.

you can charge it by usb as long it is powered. Some usb hubs have a power input. Get yourself a wall plug with a usb plugin so you can charge it with a computer. Charge your mp3 player overnight.

you cant charge it with your computer. it needs its own power supply cord.
