but I tell you a few things all depend on the stock you start out with, the better stock the better end results..

and the sub-straight your growing them in is another big part of your success...just like that Miracle Grow commercial about their growing formulated dirt compared to regular dirt.Miracle grow stuff grows bigger and better...think about it..research growing soils too..maybe even the Miracle Grow soils...

and maybe make a manure tea..get some cow manure from Lowes or Home Depot or grain store....and get a large bin and break it all up and ad water and make sure it is all stirred in well, then let it settle and use the water to feed your pants...ad a little bit of water, ( usually the amount you take out each times) and stir it all up again...let it settle until the next time you need water..stir it up real good and let it settle and keep doing this until your onions are all done, and if you need to add more manure add it and stir and so forth.....it works wonders...

go to all the web sites you can to find seed onions, and get the BEST you can..you will have a hands up on them if you get the best seeds....seed onions are usually little onions already starting to grow...

If you want to mess with your uncle's mind, start some AILSA CRAIG onion seeds in January and set the plants out in spring, giving them *plenty* of space. This variety, if given fertility and space, will produce a mild onion ranging in size from a softball to a small soccer ball. Amazing!
