What gives our military the right to act as if they are God, or way above the law and kill their own men?

A classic example is Pat Tillman! Shot by "friendly fire". Read the article below and just rest assured this sort of thing happens a whole lot more than we ever hear about.

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20061109/ap_on_re_us/in...

Be certain to pay close attention to details about how a dead Humvee was slowing down the rest of the platoon from carrying out other operations that someone had needlessly placed a "rush" on. And even after Tillman's platoon was split in 2, him and his half still had that Humvee strapping them down. So one can just Imagine what happened! Also don't be shocked if some of the people who spoke to AP just up & vanish!

I've often wondered just WHO our military 'thinks' they are! I mean if they want an enlistee to be subjected to a dangerous chemical, and that causes the person to suffer until they die, all the military has to do is DENY they are responsible and that lets them off the hook. Isn't that convenient?? Who granted them such rights?

Update:

To all those who like "assuming", I have some news for you. I did my time in 'Nam on the ground in the battlefield. It was nothing but a political joke then and today it's even worse because the current "Commander In Chief" is the one with no battlefield experience, -not me-! He sure knows how to spend the lives of our men though! Just like they were counterfeit pennies.

Also, I never read anything in here to indicate anyone was 'happy' about people dying. I don't want to guess where that assumption came from! Some of you people have some pretty pitiful immaginations. :(

Get it right. It's not our military that is does anything on their own. The Government my friend. Mr George W! He is sending everyone to slaughter. Not just our brothers, sisters, dad neighbors and friends but he is screwing up the whole world. Military men are trained to do what they are told.

None of those passages prepare to turning out to be a member of the militia in the country you reside. This does: enable everybody be subject to the governing government, for there is not any authority different than that which God has favourite. The government that exist have been favourite by ability of God. hence, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and people who accomplish which will carry judgment on themselves. Romans 13:a million-2 If there's a draft and you're stated as you heavily isn't compelled to kill. you're able to desire to ask to be assigned someplace else. If that doesn't artwork and you refuse, you would be punished by some ability. i'm born back and that i don't hate all people. i'm peace loving and continuously seek for to verify disputes in a Christ-like way. even though, if i'm in conflict and my CO says kill each and every thing that strikes, you're able to think of i grew to become into the Terminator on steroids. In peacetime, that's opposite to the observe of God to get entangled in civilian affairs. i could advise that spending distinctive time and capability in a anti-conflict pass falls into this type. deliver a letter on your congressman or the President in case you disagree with a coverage or decision. right this is the Scripture that backs this up: connect with me in suffering, like a solid soldier of Christ Jesus. no person serving as a soldier gets entangled in civilian affairs, yet somewhat tries to delight his commanding officer. 2 Timothy 2:3-4 right this is our well-known calling, and our commander is Jesus Christ. Amen.

With the best will in the world standing up in a fire fight and yelling "I.m Pat TIllman" isn't a clever thing to do, unless you think a small amount of fame makes you bulletproof. Sadly US forces do have a reputation for shooting first and burying the mistakes with full military honors.

Chuck....since you mention that you were on the ground in Vietnam you certainly know friendly fire has been around since The Revolutionary War.

I don't recall anyone condoning it or saying it was OK or appropriate then or now.

Do you have a solution to the incidents of friendly fire? Sadly I don't other than never placing troops, sailors, airman and marines in harms way.

And I am a for army officer who had was on the ground in Bosnia and in Iraq.

I suggest that you go into a war zone yourself before you start throwing stones. Many of those men have been over there for the majority of the past five years. I like to see how well you react when you are in that position.

If you have never been in that position than who are you to determine they did it on purpose?

Since the Associated Press printed it it all must be fact.

Unless they show their source they have no credibility as far as I'm concerned. Media is biased. Anyway that claims they are are delusional. To tell the truth somehow I doubt they would be able to comb through internal army documents. The press has limits just like everyone else.

Get a life. No one deserves an opinion on war except war veterans. I'm in the Marine Corps and have been to Iraq 2wice and know what the fog of war is like. **** happens, it's WAR! Yes, friendly fire happens. You do everything you can do to make sure it doesn't, but accidents happen when you are getting shot at and everything is blowing up around you sometimes. The military doesn't want any of us dead, and we all take care of each other to make sure it doesn't happen unnecessarily. Grow up and get an opinion you have a right to have.

Well Charley Brown I would suggest that since you have never experienced the "fog of war" there isn't much anyone can tell you. Sh!t happens and there isn't anyone ever going to be able to change that. People are human, and make mistakes.

But I WILL tell you this ,,,,,, for every GI that dies as the result of a mistake made by another GI, 10,000 people will die as a result of a mistake made by a surgeon and 100,000 will die as a result of a mistake made by a driver on our highways.

Why are you so happy about it?

Friendly fire happens. It doesn't take brains to know that.

We slaughtered our own accidently in every war.

Does Americans dying make you happy?

Bush thinks he's God when he's just a drinking alcoholic. He gave them the orders, though "just following oreders" is not a defence in international law for war-crimes.
