Chicken chili is not real chili in a real man's eyes... sort of like calling ketchup on a cracker with cheese and slice of bologna, 'Pizza'

Doubt you could get too much meat in chili...

Hotness is a personal preference... some don't make it 'hot' at all. I personally made mine with dried red peppers from my garden.

To be chili: tomato sauce, beans, ground beef, onions and seasonings of your own choice (or even a chili seasoning mix)

If you are just starting out making chili - get ready for some disappointment until you adjust your mix to the way you like it.

Just one tip - WATCH the grease.. drain the meat.. nothing worse than chili with a bunch of grease on top.

You can have vegetarian chili or add different types of meats such as ground beef, turkey, venison etc.. Also different types of beans may be used such as light or dark kidney beans, black beans, hot or mild beans. A variety of spices (chili powder, cumin, garlic, red pepper flakes) will give you the flavor you want. I have experimented with several combinations and have always yielded a satisfying result. Chili is usually a healthy choice if using lean or no meat and little salt. Canned chili may be low in fat but high in sodium. Lots of different chili recipes online..

Chili is about one of the healthiest things you can make if you make it w/ lean meat, ground chick or ground turkey... and beans are great for you, plus I put tomato paste & crushed tomatoes in mine, so you get lycopene in it, good stuff! I also add Rotel to make it very spicey along w/ chili powder. I think chili can have a lot of differnet things in it and I think it can be as creative as you like it to be... that's what makes a great chili (and I love cheese & onions on mine, to me that makes it extra special)... but also the LOVE that is added when you make it, that makes a good chili... Corny, I know, but it's true! HTH

It's not that u make hot or not, it's the secret ingredients

that make it great. My Dad wins awards on his chili and he

uses two types of meat beef and venicen (deer meat) and

it tastes great! He always makes two batches one hot, one mild!

I knoe he also uses pink beans, besides kidney beans!

Hey any chili make with love is great!

Depends on the kind of chili. Chili is rich in anto-oxidants.

actually, chili with no meat makes GREAT chilli.

try adding carrots, corn and beans and you've got a great chili.

also don't work about making it too spicy.

By definition-it must have chiles in it to be chile.

There are many varieties of chiles with differing heat levels.

There are green chiles, red chiles, yellow chiles, orange chiles, all in dried and fresh variations.

You can make your chile with any meat you like-classic Mexican chile verde and chile colorado are typically made with pork or goat-or make vegetarian chile.

As long as it has chiles in it and is to your liking it is great chile!
