Brake Pulsations on 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

In reading forums on the web, it seems that brake pulsations due warped rotors are a constant problem for the 2001 JGC. I've had mine replaced twice and turned twice, and now I need it done again! All my previous repairs were by dealers, and after 4 times in 3 cities, I'm not inclined to go back to the OEM well again.

So, two requests for recommendations, please: (1) Has anyone had success in eliminating the problem with aftermarket parts for replacing the front brakes, and if so, who was the manufacturer (2) any reputable mechanic in LA (Burbank and Pasadena area preferred) to do the job? Thanks!

    Make sure that you have the newer style front calipers, I think that they are the Akebono calipers. They are silver in color the old style calipers are black in color. Check out Powerslot rotors I run them on my 96 Grand Cherokee and love them. You just need to run the Hawk brand pads that they suggest. 4WD.com sells them.

    Warped out rotors are constant problem with many cars. Using non OEM rotors from a reputable manufacturer will take care of your pulsating brake pedal. Now, why are going through so many rotors? Well my friend it is your driving habits. Constant high speed braking is what is making your rotors warp prematurely. Have you ever seen auto races at night, where you can actually see their rotors red hot when they brake? Well factory installed rotors are designed to dissipate normal quantities of heat, in your case you are creating more heat that the can tolerate.

    You need to take it easy on your brakes (they cant take that much friction) moderate your speeds and increase your distance between cars on highways. If you cant change your driving habits try racing rotors (can find them in various brands) which are crossed drilled to enhance airs cooling capacity.

    Every auto repair manual I have read suggests that if the lug nuts are not properly torqued every time, it will warp the rotors, regardless of driving habits. Every brake job on a truck I had the rotors had to be turned to get the warp out. I started using a torque wrench on the nuts and have not had that problem since.

    You don't say if your vehicle is equipped with anti-lock brakes. If it is ,it could be the anti-lock feature modulating the brake pressure to keep the wheels from locking up.

    you could need new callipers or the sliders could just be seized. If the callipers are bad then this will cause the brakes to over heat and warp the rotors. This is a common problem with many cars. also if you have the wrong brake fluid in the system than this to will cause problems to.

    properly the previous proprietor would desire to have positioned new brakes on with out fixing the rotors & the calipers. If those are warped & screwed up then you definately will ought to get those replaced besides as your brakes probably. which will run you over $seven hundred in case you're taking it to a mechanic. it is low-priced innovations you. if your boyfriend could confirm that the rotors & calipers are actually not ok & if he can do it himself then do this somewhat or you're able to desire to take it to a service center actual rapid when you consider which you're able to desire to finally end up in a ruin.

    You have to go with after market parts. After changing pads 4 times & roters twice , my mechanic got better rotors & high heat pads at O'rileys ,,,,,, no problem since.

    there was a class action law suit against Jeep because of the bad break break system,.,.,. they settled out of court.

    i ran in to this problem at my shop.this problem is caused by the brake calipers.have them replaced,and turn the rotors and you should have this problem solved.
