Go ahead & invite him. Try telling him he can bring a friend. Remember he might be nervous to go too, so that should make things easier if he knows he can bring someone. If he doesnt show up, its not the end of the world. There will be more times you can be around him. Definitely dont take it personal, he might just be busy.

If u want to invite him then u do just that.Life is about taking chances.Look at it like this.If u ask him and he says no then you'll live through that. But if u don't ask him and u find out he would of came and would of ended up likeing u. Well then u would be kicking your own butt forever. hahaha Get my point. Oh Happy Birthday hon.

Invite him is a must! You said he is one of your very good friend so don't afraid to invite him.If you didn't invite him,and after a few days he finds out that you held a birthday party ang didn't invite him,he will be angry. So,do you want him to be angry with you or have a happy day at your birthday party?
Source(s): Ps:Don't say you like him!If you say before your birthday party,I bet that he won't go or change his mind! - 1 decade ago
I think it is all a matter of correct wording. Instead of "inviting him" and risk getting turned down, I would let him know that your party is on ?????? day at ????? time and let him know that he is welcome to come by. Leave the ball in his park, that way he won't feel pressured and you won't wonder if you pushed to hard.
If you let him know and he says he can't make it, keep your head up. There will always be another opportunity.
