I am putting down a laminated floor in my kitchen?

The sub layer to a laminate floor doesn't have to be perfect, but there should be no abrupt lumps or differences in height. There can be some areas where the floor has slight contour (caused by the house settling, etc..). Just make sure there are no holes that the new flooring will not bridge or any abrupt changes more than 1/8". Be sure to smooth the floor and put the underlayment material over the old floor before laying in the laminate floor. Good luck.

well this is really my husbands dept but Yes the floor should be smooth other wise your going to get tiers from the pionty leftover cement and stuff ( pebbles and anything that might break of the crud on the floor )coming threw your new laminate. So make shure the floor is smootha nd make shure you sweep good befor you lay the new stuff down

The laminate floor should be smooth, so anything under it, would have to be smooth as well. The laminate flooring can adhere to a variety of things, but they all need to be at the same height and level

yes you need a flat level floor - if you want a flat level floor !

it would be best if you covered the entire floor with a thin layer of plywood or composition board
