I don't think so. First of all, I don't like people touching me either..and I don't care if they're black white, gay straight, or PURPLE. Some people just don't like to be touched by others. To say that "I don't know where that hand has been" is a homophobic comment is ridiculous...I say that to my son all the time. He's 6!!! People need to quit trying to make waves for no reason other than making waves. Geesh

No, it was not a homophobic remark. Rosie is so gay she is finding fault with what everyone says. I would have said the same thing if someone tried to cover my mouth. There is nothing homophobic about that. For one thing, most men put there hands in their pants and that has nothing to do with being gay. For another thing, Clay's sexual orientation was never mentioned nor questioned. Rosie has just lost her mind. Thank you.

We need to relax and stop trying to seek a "deeper meaning" into comments people make. And that goes double when the person complaining about the comment is Rosie O'Donnell! That woman is a freak! (And her being a freak has nothing to do with her being gay.)

Rosie will take the molehill to the mountain. That's what she did here. First, no one knows if Clay is gay. He doesn't discuss it. Second, who hasn't said that very line at one time or another. This is a big deal over nothing.

Homphobia is not just about about intent. Perception plays a very big part. If Kelly Rippa wants to be a polite person then she needs to think twice about how her comments will be received by people, that is the mark of politeness. Good people sometimes say stupid things.

Rosie O Donnels perception is also valid, since she was part of the TV audience. She knows more than anyone what a homophobic slur sounds like because she's been on the recieving end of them, it's OK for her to speak up and say "look, if you want to be polite to gay people, you have to do a little self-censorship."

No...I didn't take it that way at all. I thought it was rude of Clay to cover her mouth with his hand so that he could interject a statement. That's just plain crossing the line and rude.

Rosie is just being overly sensitive and took it the wrong way.

I had read about that incident happening earlier and it never even crossed my mind to thing that Ripa was making a comment on Aiken's sexuality.

I'm a very sarcastic person by nature and I might have made that same type of comment to a person with no underlying sexual meaning.

No. I think Rosie O'Donnell has gone left of center and has seriously lost perspective, reason and credibility. That's too bad. I really used to admire her.
