not only do they get in thru holes and cracks, but ive seen mice run thru a open door that was just left open for a minute or so. especially in the fall, make sure you never leave your door open! the only surefire way is to get a cat or a ferret. if for some reason you dont want to get one then let me suggest this--and im not kidding--spread a bit of cat or ferret feces around the outside foundation of your house. mice are terrified of this smell!

We live in an apartment building and here s what worked for us: D-Con mouse poison embedded in small slices of raw breakfast sausage. We put this bait into a cut-off paper cup so that it would bear no resemblance to a standard trap, which they recognize and avoid. We d come back in the morning and the bait would be gone. After two or three days of this, all the mice were gone, too. What did not work for us: Using peanut butter or chocolate as a bait. Someone said put out carbonated soda and that will kill them because they can t burp up the carbonation. They didn t drink the soda.

I know how you fill I have lived in the country and every time we had a good year on the land the mice were unbelievable I am also a very clean person the thing to do is,You will have to have a good look around your house "inside" also check all cupboards there has to be a hole somewhere for them to get into the house, the hole doesn't have to be very big the size of a pencil I've seen them get through that size its unbelievable how they can do it. Put in every hole you find steel wool they wont eat through that then use traps and bait to get the one that are left inside You should not have anymore trouble from then on

The mice are coming in from the outside. That a GOOD look around the outside of the house for holes, cracks.

Yes a cat will get rid of your mice problem, other then a cat, use stickey traps, they work very well, and can you can buy them at a dollar store or at Menards.

it has nothing to do with cleanliness - it's getting cold out and the mice are looking for warm climes.
plug all small entry holes with spray foam or caulk, use glue boards under the stove and fridge, and consider renting a cat for a few weeks.

Try to find the breech that they enter thru and stuff it with steel wool. Go to farm supply and locate the 'ASSAULT". About a dollar or 2 a pack, get a few, spread them around and the problem will take care of itself. I recommend "ASSAULT" because it dries them up drom the inside incase they get inside a wall or behind an appliance or something, it won't smell. Good luck, they are crafty ceatures. We had a large one move in with us once...but that is another story

Glue traps are the best method to trap rats and mice.
