I have had a DNA test and would like to ask a question about the results.?

A DNA test must be specifically looking for ancestry to determine your ethnicity. Your's was a paternity test - completely different. That means that the data on your ethnic background isn't on that report.

I am an MD. A paternity test will not generally tell you what your racial/ethnic background is, because they are only looking for identical sequences between you and your supposed father. If someone were very astute, they may be able to take the same data and also determine race/ethnicity but I doubt it. I did hear of a company that will do your racial profile for a small fee. However, since your father is 1/8 native american, and you only recieve 50% of what he's got, then there is a reasonably good chance that he is your father and yet by chance he didn't give you any native american DNA. Just keep that in mind when you get the test results back.
