Awkward???????

Ok. So.

I am in a show right now, and my costume didnt fit quite right. So the costumer gave me a new one, and told me it fit beautifully. When I heard this, I called the director over, saying "look! I've FINALLY found a costume that fits right!" After that, I looked down, and noticed that my dress was showing about and inch of my bra and was really low cut...it was horrible. The director is almost 40 years older than me and has a wife and kids..do you think he thought I was trying to show off my body or that I was just unaware???

I guess it depends what you said after you looked down and noticed it was showing your bra and was so low cut. If you made mention that maybe it didn't fit you as well as you first thought then no he wouldn't think you where trying to show off. If you didn't make any mention but looked down and he saw you look down then that may be another issue. You can always go back to him and explain that you hadn't realize the dress was so low cut and your not comfortable with it being so low cut this way he realizes you are not willing to show off your body.

He probably thought you didn't realize or were being sarcastic. It really depends on your intonation, in spoken English it can change so much about a statement.

Unless he's a lech, he probably thought that you hadn't noticed. The good news is that if he's a lech and he's forty years older than you, he probably can't do much about it anyway.

Explain to him what gives. Tell him you didn't realize that it showed as much it did. If he's nice, he'll understand. If not, "so it goes".
