Doctors- Help with Laryngitis?

A month ago, my singing voice (high notes) dissapeared, after a cold and an asthma flare, treated with a higher dosage of Advair. I can manage a high note, if I force it. My voice is still gone, and I have a musical to be in very soon. I drink loquat honey and throat coat tea, as my voice teacher ordered. I still speak at a normal rate (a lot) because I haven't had any trouble with normal speech. I do not cough. I am no longer sick. I really need help, and I plan on seeing my doctor. If you're not a doctor, get your 2 pts off of some other question!

There are 3 things that you can do to help resolve your laryngitis:

    1) Hydration (which you are doing)

    2) Humidification (sleep with a humidifier in your room, use a humidifying device like you may have seen on TV, or breathe in over clean boiling water - far away enough to not burn yourself).

    3) Voice rest. That means using even your speaking voice as little as possible. Avoid raising your voice if at all possible.

That said, your doctor can do something to help - he can prescribe you a course of corticosteroids, which are generally reserved for use only in cases where someone needs to urgently use their voice. If he does give you steroids, he'll want to make sure to see you again to determine if there are any underlying problems which caused your acute laryngitis.
