Dandruff help?
I normally have a very healthy scalp, but now that winter is here, it has become very crusty and I have a lot of dandruff. The skin along my hairline is also dried out, but sometimes it becomes bright red and burns just terrible. I have tried about 5 different brands of dandruff shampoo, none are miracles. Why is this happening? What do others do with this condition? Personal experience answers only please, I don't care to reread something I can already find out for myself from a website or a book. Thanks.

Yes. This problem is usually at its worst for me when the seasons are changing in the fall and spring. A year ago was terrible. I also have experimented with different brands. The brand that works best for me is Nizoral. Also, I am a diabetic and it seems to become worse if my blood sugar gets high. If you think that the dandruff problems are especially bad, you may want to check and see if there is, indeed, an underlying medical cause. If you have a friend that has a glucose monitor, get them to check your blood level, or certainly, consult your doctor. Probably, you're OK, but it wouldn't hurt, and it might be wise, to check it out.

I remember that I had dandruff so bad in the 7th grade that I wouldn't sit in front of other kids...it was horrible! Try oiling your scalp with a hair sheen (Garnie Fruitrise) or leaving your hair pulled up all day. I've heard using vinegar to wash your hair really works, but I have never tried it. I would also try applying regular lotion to your scalp at night before bed and washing it out in the morning. Doesn't sound like it could hurt!

I have the same problem . . . summer I'm fine, winter right along my scalp line I get flaky! It sucks! I've found that for me I wash my hair every other day with an antidadruff shampoo and condition very well and apply a scalp moisturizer after I get out of the shower. It seems to have worked for me.
Happy holidays!

You probably havent tried psoriasis shampoos, try t-gel. It breaks down the flakes and then the conditioner keeps breaking down the flakes and moisturizes the scalp. If you have dry skin around your hair line try a light moisturizer. Stay away from hot water when washing your hair, your scalp dries out because you are JUST using hot water. Try using the hot water then use a little cooler water to rinse your hair just before you get out. This may help with the drying, especially around your hair line and it keeps you body from itching. Good Luck

if you have a Sally Beauty supply store near you get the shampoo that has tea tree oil in it and its not all that spendy it i have used it and it works really good with regular use or go to your local salon and get Paul Mitchells shampoo with the same ingredient, but the one at Sally's is just the same i compared ingredients the only difference is one is a name brand and the other is not

Me too
I use Sea Breeze Antiseptic and apply it with a cotton ball before bed and after my shower (just let it evaporate some before using a blow dryer).
This has always worked for me.

if you have dandruff, then you have to take long baths.
after you use the shampoo, wash it off your hair for about 10 minutes then the dandruff will be gone. cuz you see, dandruffs are shampoo leftovers that you havent washed out yet.
so i would go do that

Oil your hair the day before you are going to wash your hair,
and an hour before you wash your hair apply juice squeezed from lemon to your scalp........
And voila!!!
