What is the national average Christmas bonus?

I definitley don't think we get a legitimate Christmas bonus at our company. I work for an Aquatic Ecotoxicology lab and we do important work on studies that are very expensive i.e. the company is making some money and our STANDARD (everyone gets this regardless how long you've been here) bonus is $250!!! So I would like to find some credible stats out there to go to my boss with and explain how that is NOT a bonus! Websites links would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The average might be misleading. The "average" bonus at Goldman Sachs this year was $622,000+. But most of that went to a small number of people (that make the company a large amount of money). Companies are not required to give you anything. Some places do, others do not. You should always ask about pay when you are starting a new job. This way you do not get suprised.

I've been in the workforce for quite some time and I've never worked for a company that gave a Christmas bonus. One employer I worked for in the past gave $25 giftcards, which I guess is better than nothing. I think companies stopped giving an actual "Christmas bonus" in the 70's or early 80's.

I wouldn't complain too much. I have worked for different companies (all of them Fortune 500 companies) and I have only received a single Christmas bonus. That was a certificate for a turkey.

My company does 2 weeks' worth, and 4 weeks for more than 7 years service.

At my company it all depends on how long you've been working for them. i've been with the company for about 8 months and i got $200...i worked for a company for 1 year and only got $50...but $250 is not bad at all, some people dont get anything

I don't know what the national is but we got 200 dollars after 3 years of service.

Get with the times. You can't even say "Christmas" for fear of offending some freaks. Feel lucky if the company throws a "Holiday Party" or you get a $25 gift card.

I'm not sure of the average, but I get an extra week's pay and my fiance only gets $100. It's wierd because he makes twice as much as me and only gets $100!
