how can I tell if a program on my pc is legitimate and where it's from?
if I go into my documents I see some folders with names and numbers but not sure where they have come from or who created. how do I tell if something is from like ms or someone else and what this info relates to?
I have gone into properties but one or two files have no name only letters and numbers

check when they were created, were you online that day?
if you think their iffy, virus scan just those folders.
i'd run anti-spyware on them as well.
delete them if you dson't use them.
if they come back, their viruses.

just google search the complete file name and take the links - the results are normally from anti-virus sites describing the files as safe or not - i do it all the time checking through task manager and start-up files
