I have to cook a ham and turkey in the same oven, but only one at a time. What order should I cook them in?

I am thinking to warm the ham, then cook the turkey (about 4 hours) then put the ham back in while the Turkey is sitting.

Cook the turkey first because it is raw and also needs to sit outside the oven after cooking for 30 min at least before carving. The ham is most likely precooked and only needs to be heated through and can be done in a shorter amount of time while preparing other last minute items and slicing the turkey.

The easiest thing to do is to cook the ham overnight on a low temperature setting and then cook the turkey while the ham rests. After the turkey is done and resting, place the ham ack in the oven to heat it up for dinner.

That's how we did it at my house for Thanksgiving and it turned out wonderful. We actually cooked the ham the night before, then Thanksgiving Day we cooked the turkey and then after the turkey was done we put the ham back in to heat thru... it turned out really good.

Cook the ham first. It doesn't have to cook as long and is enjoyed at room temperature. Whereas most people like their turkey warm with gravy, etc. Depending on how big your turkey is will determine how long it will be in the oven.

ah yes my friend you should cook the turkey first only because it requires more time and more attention than the ham wich is smaller and requires less attention and not as mutch time in the oven. and to cook the turkey in you should use... steak tenderiser juice ( meat tenderiser juice or garlic and onion marande dressing would bo the ticket perhapse. maybe even olive oil would work. and my sugestion does not work than just keep trying until you find the right marande sauce for the turkey or the ham.

Do the ham first. Nobody really cares if ham is served at room temp, but turkey is better warm.

Cook the ham first. It can sit longer. Tent it with foil once it's out of the oven to keep it warm and moist.

I think you have a very good idea. The turkey holds its heat if you don't carve it.
