Why are ATHEISTS so obsessed with something they claim to KNOW doesn't exist?
And how does it harm them if others choose to believe in what they consider fairy-tales?

Atheists are so obsessed with this because of the fact that it means that they are not the final authority in their own lives, and that they're answerable to an all-powerful God, which means that they must answer to him for all that they have done. They're threatened by this. Also, it harms them because if others believe, especially if they're converted from atheism, their argument loses power. Furthermore, it means making God a bigger part of society--how many atheists do you think want that?

Here's your problem, little Billy... You must realize that until recently (i.e. the forming of the American government) being an atheist was frowned upon by the public. Now that we can actually have our say, it is a fast attempt to make up for the THOUSANDS of YEARS Christian fanatics have been shoving lies down our throats. Nobody can ever claim they know what is real and what is not; that's ignorance. Just like you can't go around claiming God is real. Nobody's right, I can guarantee you that much. Every religion has it wrong (except FSMism maybe) because they don't practice what they preach. Once there is no religion, we will be able to join together as HUMAN BEINGS, and not religious sects. Ironic, isn't it? The only way for world peace is the destruction of religion as a whole, or the uprising of one singular religion that proves to be right. Gosh, I hope it's Scientology.

I have never seen Darwin-Thumpers knocking on my door on Sunday morning.
I have never been to an Atheistic Service in an Atheist's Church.
Never heard of atheists burning witches or bombing buses or restaurants.
Very few atheists have become millionaires for doing nothing.
Atheists don't burn flags when they're mocked in cartoons.
A true Atheist can coexist with people of just about every faith.
Atheists can eat pork no problem.
No atheist group has ever launched a "Crusade" or a "Jihad" (Commies were not atheists, they worshiped the hammer and sickle)
Atheists never get possessed and thus never need exorcists.
Atheists don't go to Hell.
Atheists don't fear the wrath of God.
SO, WHO IS OBSESSED AFTER ALL????

I think Ronan said it best, by saying that they, the atheists don't want to be disturbed in killing babies, and other things that are wrong. They perceive that we, the Christians are trying to force them to do good, when in reality many things are wrong just because they are wrong whether or not God does or doesn't exist. Killing off our own children thats just plain wrong. But I don't know what the problem is, in this society the atheists are getting their own way...abortion is legal, evolution, not creationism is taught in the schools, they should just be happy that things in this life are going their way!

It doesn't concern us that some choose to believe in fairy tales--that's their personal business--it's the fact that so many Christians are bent on imposing their beliefs on all of us through legislation and policies instituted by the executive branch. That affects us directly.
Many Christians seem obsessed with the false notion that one Congressman-elect taking his oath of office with one hand on the Qur'an will mean Islam will be taking over their lives, too.

I'd put myself more into agnostic territory, but it doesn't harm me if you choose to believe whatever you want. Seriously, I don't care what lets you sleep at night.
But understand that it is insulting to constantly tell me that I cannot POSSIBLY be a good, moral person or live a good life without Christianity. If Christianity = morality, then explain Ted Haggard.
I let you believe what you want as long as the respect goes both ways.

You have to know about the enemy in order to defeat the enemy. Lets take Iraq. prime example. Bush didn't get to know his enemy therefore he attacked the wrong country and is losing the war. Now, had he investigated the war might be over right now.
When people attack you you're only going to deal with it for so long before you fight back. It's not obsession it's frustration and a battle of whit. if you can speak to me and tell me i'm going to the worse place that YOU can imagine and i may be a better person than you. If i know what you're about, when you attack me, i can come back with something intelligent instead of a bunch of ramblings.

You could answer your own question by asking - - - Why are people who have a hang-up with religious superstition so obsessed with what Atheists believe ?
And how does it harm the church goers if others don't follow their beliefs ?

Why are RELIGIONS so obsessed with something they claim to KNOW exists?
And how does it harm them if others choose to believe in what they consider the truth?
See what I did there... your argument can be mirrored right back on you. Now please, stop dogging atheists. I'm sick of it. Christians are supposed to love their fellow man, not love them only if they beleive in the same thing. This is why the Christian churches continue to shrink, and why I left it as soon as I went to college.

It doesn't harm me that people believe in God and in religions. It only harms me when people try to convert me and tell me I will burn in hell forever and deserve that. It also troubles me when people use religion to justify violence. Otherwise I respect people's believes. I am not obsessed with God, but I am just interested in what other people think and believe.
