Computer Wont Start ADVICE NEEDED PLEASE ASAP!?

POST beeps don't need speakers.

It sounds like CPU overheating.

Do you have thermal paste on the CPU under the fan?

Have you tried taking out the graphics card and tried using the on-board graphics card? Try that first. It also sounds like the heatsink/fan is not making good connection to the CPU so fix that and then try it. I don't think you need to buy any more parts just get new heatsink/fasn clips and you should be ok if not go ahead and get the PSU.

It sounds like the broken heatsink clip is the culprit. I had incorrectly installed a heatsink once (left it half clipped) and the PC started to boot, then shut down very quickly. Those CPUs heat up very quickly and if the MB is checking the temp of them, you won't operate without a properly installed heatsink.

You said the problem started when you introduced the new graphics card...so I'm guessing the problem is right there. Does it work OK if you pull it? If so, the card might not be compatible with your system. Else, if that CPU heatsink and fan don't work, you might have fried your system inserting the card. You did unplug it and discharge yourself of static before installing it I hope?

If its shutting down during POST, you dont have a software issue... Try removing the video card and plug back into your integrated video.. Remove RAM one at a time, having first bank filled both time.. Does it shut off just as fast, when its been down all night? You could be having thermal issues.. Hopefully not, else you could be buying yourself another CPU.. You dont have to have speakers hooked up to your motherboard to here post beeps. Unless your mobo didnt come with one soldered to the board.. Anyways check those things and let us know..

If the heatsink was off, there is a good possibility that the processor is overheating. That is why the computer turns itself off.

My WAG is that your heat sink is not making good enough contact with the CPU to dissipate the heat properly. The CPU will overheat quite rapidly if this is the case.

instead of trying to communicate through facebook, I would suggest arranging to meet somewhere where you can both talk freely and without anybody else involved. If you feel he means that much I think he will appreciate the gesture.

take out the graphics card. and take scots advice and plug it in. if you took anything that is stock out of it put it back in. and wait a sec how did u post that if your comp doesn't work.

Change the power supply.

And put the hard drive back.
