unrefrigerated pie safe?

I bought some pie slices, then had to drive so it was unrefrigerated in my car for about 2 days (48 hours), it was "cool" at night but not enough and certainly not in the day. So about how long should it be safe, for a fruit pie, no cream or anything that I'm aware of. It's like a blueberry pie, but it's actually some other berries...

If it was hot during the day the pies may not be good. Sugar is a good preservative and since there was no cream they could last if it was cool enough. Berries last longer than some other things but I would look at it very critically and smell it because it will smell funny if it is going bad

Source(s): I almost never refredgerate fruit pies in the winter but always do in the summer but it stays pretty cool in my home

I'm not sure if the temperature fluctuations would make the pie tastes bad or not. Cars can get pretty hot during the day. As far as safety goes, I've left fruit pies out at room temperature for 4 or 5 days and have not gotten ill from eating them. You could eat a couple of bites and see if they taste okay, wait a bit to see if you feel sick, then eat the rest later.

as long as there's no dairy products like cream in the pie and it's a fruit-only pie, it should be safe. However, if it has been cut, throw it out.

Nonetheless, there is still a risk with foods left out for more than two hours. When in doubt, throw it out. You can always buy a new pie, right?

If it wasn't frozen its ok. As far as the blueberry is concerned, or any other fruit pie, its ok as long as it tastes ok. But you should eat it soon; fresh pies don't last long unrefrigerated.

Unless a pie has milk in it, e.g.; custard pies, they don't need refrigerating. None of the fruit pies need to be refrigerated.

Fruit pie is fine out of the refrigerator for several days, though you want to limit the number of extreme temperature changes to which you expose it.

If it doesn't look moldy, go ahead and eat it.

it should be fine. In the country in Tennessee we baked pies and they sat on the table or counter until consumed. Enjoy it.
