messed up ankle isn't heeling??
I messed up my ankle in April of 2005, and it is not healed yet. It was a horrible sprain, and I nearly cracked my growth plate at that. They told me I would be fine after the summer, and tha tI would be able to play volleyball the next fall with no complications. Thing is, I relaxed it all summer long that year, and still had major troubles with it during volleyball season. I couldn't even play basketball that year because it bothered me so much. By the time track season came up, I could barely keep up with my team, I was constantley in the physical therapy room, and ended up quiting playing, because I couldn't stand not being able to practice, seeing my team out there running and winning meets while I sat next to the coach and took times. This year I am a freshman in hs, and playing basketball.
I am thinking seriously about quiting bball this year early if I can't find a way to heal this problem. I really need to be healthy for track season, because it is very likely that i will make the varsity team. I am really fast - when the ankle is not bothering me. i have to wear a brace on it whenever i work out, and that really slows me down a lot. i really need to find a way to get rid of this problem because i cannot miss any of track this year out with an injury
i originally never had any surgurys or anythign more than X-rays because i was only 13 and they didn't want to do anythign that would cause more injury to me, since i was an all-around athlete just truly begining my career.
it still makes a popping/cracking noise when i walk on it a lot. and like in the mornings, when i first get up i hear popping as i walk up the stairs and such. it hurts 2, like not a lot, but enough to notice... and it takes a lot for me 2 notice pain... bit of a dare-devil as a child, lots of injuries, makes for a very high pain tolerance.

The thought that you would have returned to normal would have been the best case scenario. Since you haven't healed, I agree that it is time for further testing...probably MRI. Severe sprains can lead to permanent ligamentous or tendon damage which would not have been seen on an x-ray. While ligaments and tendons heal very slowly, it has been nearly 2 years and it is time to have it checked for structural damage.

You need to go see an orthopedic doctor to find out what exactly is going on. I am surprised no one has suggested that to you already. Since you are still having problems you may need a CT scan or an MRI to see if there are problems in the ankle that they originally missed. If everything is ok then the doc will at least be able to tell you what to do to help it heal or refer you to the proper person that can help you.

Definitely go see an orthopedic doctor about this. If they said that you would be fine for all of these sports, and you are having some trouble with them, then there could be something wrong that they didn't find before. Go see an orthopedic doctor...they can help you.
