What does it mean to make concessions for someone else?

Thanks - that is what I thought! I was a little irritated about the way the men in my husband's family walk all over their women. I don't let my husband do that to me so that is why he respects the hell out of me) But after knowing his family for a while I have never seen my father in law or brother in law be the slightest bit considerate of their mother and sister. I told my sister. I did not grow up in a family where the women concede and lay low and work their asses off for men who don't really seem to have any sense of protecting or doing anything for the women in the family!! And I told her that I will not make concessions for men!
