Why does our 10 week kitten like to sleep on our shoulder or pillow?

Our kitten loves to climb up and sleep on out shoulder while we watch TV or sitting on the couch. He also loves to sleep on our pillow above our heads when we sleep, and ideas as to why. We got him about a month ago from the pet shop

Don't you love it? That means he loves you and feels safe with you. My cat still sleeps on the pillow and has to have his head touching mine. Sometimes he even takes his front leg and wraps it around my neck like a hug. He's been doing it since he was 5 weeks old when I got him, and he will be 12 this year. I once read that cats are the only animal that will completely accept a human as one of their own. Enjoy, some cats are not very affectionate. Sounds like you have one like mine.

In the wild, height=safety. The higher you are off of the ground, the safer you are from predators and the more you can see what's going on around you. It's natural instinct for a cat to head for high ground, that's why leopards and housecats climb trees-or people if no trees are available : )

I had a matching undertaking a sprint over a month in the past as quickly as I took our little al to the vet to be neutered. He died in the present day after the anaesthetic replaced into administered. His little sister alfie replaced into left at the back of. She replaced into thoroughly devastated, does not consume any cat nutrition in simple terms the atypical poultry leg. She is back eating now yet continues to be searching for her brother. We have been going to take alfie to be spayed yet i dont have the middle on the mo. I couldnt quit crying for the 1st 2 weeks nor would desire to i bypass away the homestead. you're under a super form of tension on the minute so please do shelter your self.

You have to love kittens. They are so sweet. All my cats when they were kittens did this. I think it's also because they like to hear your heartbeat. They remember that from the womb, their mother's beating heart. It's comforting to them. After a while once they become more comfortable they will grow out of it. But, they are just like little babies. They need close love and affection. :)

Male cats sleep at your head and female cats sleep at your feet...I don't know what the biological reason is but I've lived with cats my whole life (childhood pets, roommates' pets in college, my own) and I've always found this to be true. I've always thought it was kind of a fight or flight instinct thing...female cats would prob dash out the door to save their own skins first but I think the male cats would have stayed to fight to 'protect' me...

my kitten did that too!!! when she was a baby!!! your kitten is fine, he loves the natural scent of your bodies eveyr one has there own natural scent !!!! and your kitten loves to be as close to you as possible if he/she were with her mother she/he would be curled right up next to mom if she/he were with mommy cat, its your kittens own way of leting you know it feels safe and secure with and around you!!!! my kitten would crawl right up to my chest at nite or if i was laying down watching the news and nestle herself right between my chest and purr and purr away at nite thats how i knew she was ok and all!!! different cats or animals have there own way of showing love and affection!!!

It's warm and cozy there. You lose more heat through your head than elsewhere. Cats LOVE warmth!

I think they like the rhythm of your breathing. It is comforting because of memories of being with his siblings and his mother who always have a close physical relationship and you are providing him with this same comfort and feeling of love and security.
