Does anyone know of a cheap way to get from 1 island to the next in Hawaii? are there charter boats that run?

Does any one know of a cheap way to get from one island to the next in Hawaii? (like day trips) is there some kind of charter boats that run all day transporting people back and forth? and one more question if there is, about how long would it take to go to Maui lets say from Kaui? etc..etc.. Thanks so much for your help!!

The cheapest way right now is probably going through one of the three interisland airlines. There is an airline war going on right now so you can get a one way ticket as low as $19 (average $39).

    Check out these websites:

    Hawaiian Airlines ( http://www.hawaiianair.com/ )

    Aloha Airlines ( http://www.alohaairlines.com/ )

    Go! Airlines ( http://www.iflygo.com/ )

I'm not sure if there are charter boats but they may be more costly since it's a high risk and the distance it has to travel. Plus going from a certain island to another island can be very bumpy (rough water) and will take about 3-4 (maybe 5) hours (especially from Maui to Kauai). We are suppose to have a Superferry going between the islands but it's not operational yet.

The main way we island-hop here in Hawaii is by plane. There is no ferry or boat service. YET. The state is planning some kind of transportation by sea, but as always in Hawaii, it's going to take forever. The best thing that happened here is 'go!' airlines. go! offers one-way tickets for $39. Great deal! Sometimes you can get the tickets for $29 when advertised, so check often! Going from island to island can take anywhere between 20-30 minutes airtime- not long at all, and a breathtaking sight over the islands- so get yourself a window seat if you can.

The best way to take a day trip is to book an inter-island package that would include airfare. You can book these packages before you get to Hawaii or after you've arrived. Ask your airline/travel agent or, after your arrival, your hotel as well.

There's no such thing as inter-island boats or ferries in Hawaii. Inter- island flights normally take 30 to 40 minutes on direct routes, longer ( up to 2-1/2 hours) with stopovers, of course. Some smaller charter planes can make the trip between neighboring islands in 15 to 20 minutes of flying time.

Hawaiian Airlines is the most cheapest. Right now there is an inter-island special $29 per way, no matter what island your coming from or going to. An island to the next is anywhere between 35-45 minutes. Not that long! do not consider charter boats! they are unsafe & very expensive.

Well Oahu is really nice for first time visitors. It really depends what time of year you want to visit Hawaii, Summer time tourists are everywhere.I think the best island to visit would be Maui, it's really beautiful here, there's not many tourists, lots of nature and lots of activities. Or Kauai, there's gorgeous untouched beauty there. I live in Maui and if you have any further questions about Hawaii feel free to e-mail me!

There are charter flights for about $45-55 to hop islands.

Hawaii has their own airline that will take you from island to island. All interisland flights are through Hawaiian Airlines, Aloha Airlines, or Island Air. Best prices will usually be through the website or through your mainland flight company.

Right now the cheapest way is glying interisland. Flights can go as low as $25, but those are temporary specials.

There is an interisland ferry being built that will be the cheapest eventually, but its not done until July 2007.
