I had a mole removed and a new one has grown in its place. Is it dangerous?
I had a flat but odd shaped mole removed from my back this summer. The demeratologist cut it out. It left a large pink scar and now I have a new mole growing right in the middle of the scar. It is flat but shapped odd as well. The original one was tested for cancerous cells and it was fine. Do I need to have this one looked at too? Is it normal for a mole to grow on the scar from a mole that was previously removed?

I would definitely have it looked at.
My daughter had a mole removed when she was 2 (It grew fast, dark and big.) She too has a scar, the Dr told us to watch the area for re-growth because it was also below the surface and he didn't know that he got it all. So far for us there has been no re-growth and she's 8

Could be a sign of cancer if it continues to come back.
Get it looked at, but don't worry too much, Moles are not dangerous as cancerous cells unless they are ignored for a long time.

wow... I had one removed also... have it looked at by a oncology surgeon who does these removals just to be safe.... and maybe the type of mole grows back!

I am glad the first one was checked. Do have it looked at. It sounds like there was some left this summer.
