Nothing happens except mild relaxation. Dogs do not like catnip, but when they have an opportunity to take something from their closest competitor, the cat, they will do anything even eat the catnip the cat loves to roll inn and gets them so much attention.

Catnip is a member of the mint family and is a mild tranquilizer.for humans for treating headaches, insomnia tension, etc. It can be consumed either by tea or smoking.

Not much that I know of. Catnip has a chemical in it that's similar to a cat's pheremones, which is why male cats in particular like it. For a dog, it might just be calming since another one of the chemicals in catnip calms the nervous system. It could also settle its stomach.

Nothing at all. It works for cats because the smell is something of a female cat's urine, so it gets them going for that reason. A cats urine does nothing for a dog... and the dog couldn't care less. They just wonder why you're shoving dry seeds and leaves into their nose if anything.
