Why do you do the things you do?
Is there a point to life, or are we just trapped in a fake cycle of consumption & shallow beliefs?
There are so many things that all of us do during the day, running around, stressing, using, working, playing...living.
Is there a point to all of it? Is there some kind of goal we're working toward, some milestone we hope to achieve, or at the end of the day, are we all just doing things to distract us from our own passage of time?
Why do you do the things you do?

Western Civilization is partly responsible for the nonsense we do. I'm under the impression that some people love the mindless distractions in life that will keep them from truth which can be hard to swallow. It's kind of easier to go along with and to be caught up in the gang than to open a door of never ending questions.
I do things partly because of social programming, out of sheer boredom and also to undo the deep rooted programs. It's hard to be stripped of it, but liberating all the more.Maybe the point is to see past it to learn and grow in a place that is not often touched.

wow! deep question!!
i think the point to life is being as happy as we can possibly be and to be truly happy without hurting someone else or putting someone else down
personally i do have a goal in mind, maybe not a different one everyday but one in general, whether it is school or my friends or family
i think you should never be distracted about the passage of time, when i was a little girl all i ever wanted was to be a teen and have freedom or whatever but i never tried to be happy with what i had right that moment
i always thought that my happiness would be in the future, i thought i had all the time in the world
but now that im in high school already i want to go back and appreciate those moments that i had when everything felt so magical and carefree
i do the things i do because i think they are the right thing to do
maybe it isn't but i do what feels right at that moment
i depend on my feelings a lot to tell me if something is right or wrong

As human beings we were placed on this earth,to work with what the past had made and organized. What do you want to do with your life, thats the question you must ask yourself. If you don't like the position that you are in then somehow you are going to fix it or deal with it,in your own special way.
Why do we do the things we do.I am not sure but i personally believe i do the things i do out of satisfaction.Out of dignity of the people that came before me,that were trying to figureout the same thing.
Also i think when life becomes something more than just trying to stay live, but more of the essense of why you are trying to stay .That can become a little complicated, and i am pretty sure that nobody but yourself can answer that question.

I do what I do based on inspiration usually. And when I forget why I'm doing what I'm doing, I go back to those moments that inspired me in the first place, re-center myself, and continue. Is there a point, a goal? Living my life sincerely and gratefully is my goal, and living fully and in good relationship with others would be ideal...and I hope that I make a positive impact more so than a negative one. It's hard to know all of the effects that each life has on the earth and on other people and all life in general... so I do try to be as consciencious as I can...

Here is my take on this old question: Life has exactly the meaning YOU give it. If you spend your time just making time then that is exactly what you get, a life spent marking time. If you spend your time helping your neighbor it is a little deeper; helping your country deeper still and helping the world deepest yet.
The choice is yours, you can literally decide anything, the choice is yours completely. This is not to say that there are not consequences to your decision, of course there are! You can go through your life sleepwalking, merely reacting to events as you encounter them with no understanding; or you can chose to make your life one of conscious choice with a full appreciation of the effects of your decisions on the world around you.
So what will it be? Sleepwalking or being fully awake? You choose!

Why so complicated? Keep it simple!!! LIFE
it is a gift.
Make it a journey not just a trip....
Enjoy the pleasures, each day holds especially for you.
having trouble finding them....
Stop and smell the flowers not just the roses...
Do as the children do! Play with urgency! Just have Fun.
Feel the wind.... don't fret it.
Love..... Love not just somebody or something... but
Love Life for the sake of Life.
Don't just pass time. Find your purpose, create a purpose, make a difference. Choose to put a SMILE in your heart today, say YeS. and put a smile on someone else. Dare to catch one today!

Check it out. There IS no "meaning" to life. You weren't born to do anything.
But so what? Why get bummed out about it? Now that you know there's no meaning to life, it's JUST THERE, does it really make a difference? If you can figure out a way to be content most of the time, you're either very lucky or very smart (or both). If you don't life what you do, then -- get this -- you probably don't have to do it. Don't worry about the meaning of life. Just live how you want to live. Happiness lies in the choices you make.
Don't worry, be happy. Smartest words ever spoken.

We do the things we do because we want to, i.e. we have a free will. Most simply we want to sustain overselves , you know
(food, shelter, clothing) so we do somethings, then we need love, belonging all that stuff, you know,so we do some more things, then we have to show everyone how cool we are, how smart we are..you know, so we dont even more. Finally we dont give a rat's *** about anyone and reeeaally get what we want to do and go out and do it...you know !! Thats what this dude Maslow told me, man !
Now some dudes also do things because they have faith in a doctrine and they live by it ,such as Christianity etc , you know and do things because god told them to, you know !!

We're all working towards death. We're busting our asses everyday so we can hurry up and grow old and die without ever enjoying life. Hopefully though, I'm working toward making life better for my kids. At least when I die the house will be paid for, they'll have life insurance and hopefully they'll know the value of hard work. (on the other hand that could work against me- they could see that I worked myself into the grave and decided to become slackers so that wouldn't happen to them!)

i eat cuz i'm hungry, sleep cuz i'm tired, study cuz i know i need to make a living and can't rely on my parents forever. i also kno that i want to understand more to life...this is a good question...i don't know sometimes or expect things...sometimes i do things cuz its like second nature...routine things...like YA..i didn't do this b4.. maybe we're all just trying to make the best of it and find happiness in this life...but the difficult thing is to not set such a high standard...because everyone's potential is different...the materialism and the superficial things of this world is what makes it almost impossible to find full satisfaction unless you appreciate what you have and who you are....this is where you just strive to be the best you can and realize you aren't perfect....not one human being is...a world of imperfection with clashing personalities makes things quite interesting...maybe we're all striving toward harmony, perfect unity and love...the utopia which is the Kingdom of Heaven...this world is a test to see whether we accept or reject Christ....and its a hard test...this is what i really believe...
