The post office is pretty good if you are going soon. I believe some places will give you a much better rate if you buy them well in advance of when you are going. Either way, the pound is quite strong against the dollar and you should enjoy some bargains in the USA.

depends on why you want the dollars, if you want to send them to america the cheapest way is to buy an internationall money order, if you are going on holliday then travelers cheques are the best way, It also depends on the amount you want to buy as well your best bet for this question is ask the bank you hold your current account with, they are more likely to give you a good rate as they already have your buisness, and they will tell you the best way for your needs they have to cos of the banking code .

I always use M@S.They give a slightly better exchange rate than the Post Office

Call many banks and places to find out their exchange rates and fees. Look on eBay as well because some people sell their money that they have and you rarely have to pay extra fees as in a bank :D

The easiest way is from the larger Post Offices .They always have currency in stock.
