Best Hotel Near Disney's Swan Resort?

I have a convention coming up at the Swan. I reserved a room for $199 a night. I have read many bad reviews about the Swan and would like to consider a nearby hotel. What would you recommend that is 3-star or higher? The "Disney" theme doesn't matter because my kids aren't coming and I won't be going into the parks at all - just having meetings all day. I will have a car so I can drive short distances.

Update:

Thanks for the suggestions. I would prefer to spend less money, if possible since I won't have much time to enjoy the amenities as I will be in meetings most of the time.

Oh, that's too bad you've heard negative reviews. I guess it's because it just doesn't have that Disney Magic. The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin aren't owned by the Walt Disney World Company, as you may know, though they're on property. The rooms and Resorts are stunning, and they're known for their very comfortable Heavenly beds. But I haven't actually stayed there. I usually stay at Disney's Polynesian Resort, but that's in the Magic Kingdom Area on the other side of the property.

Like the others have mentioned, Disney's Beach and Yacht Club Resorts are just a stroll away from the Walt Disney World Swan Resort. So is Disney's Boardwalk Inn, but they can be a bit expensive. Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort would be the closest, least expensive Resort right on property. Rates start at about $150 per night, I think.

Your next best bet, as Beach Gal has mentioned, would be to stay at one of the non-Disney Resorts across from Downtown Disney. It'd probably be the least expensive choice, but it might take just a little longer to get to the Walt Disney World Swan Resort.

    Hope I could help!

Yacht Club, Beach Club and Boardwalk are all walking distance to swan and Dolphin hotels , they are some of the nicer places on property. Location wise this is the tops on property due to proximity to the boardwalk for different dining options... not too far from Downtown Disney and Pleasure Island for even more dining options and great places to have a drink or two. If you do stay at a Hotel on property, you will not need a car because a great internal bus system can take you anywhere rather efficiently

The best Hotel/Resort on Disney property is definitely the Grand Floridian and it would be a drive away, but I have never heard anything but raves from people who have stayed there.

Off property I have stayed at both Marriott World Center and Caribe Royale and they are both excellent... the Caribe is one of my favorites.... not too far off property.

Stay at Disney's Yacht and Beach Club, its a great hotel. It is right next to the Swan within like 2 minutes walking distance. It is considered one of the Deluxe Disney resorts and even though you arent going to Disney World, it is still a wonderful hotel

I recommend the Royal Plaza Hotel. This hotel is not a Disney Resort, but it is located right across from Downtown Disney and minutes from the Swan. It is a very nice hotel and I've noticed that do cater to working professionals traveling on business.
