Flu or cold - how do I know the difference?
I started with a really bad sore throat yesterday, and it is very sore today. I am sneezing too and my nose is stuffed. I have a headache and feel really tired and achy. Does this sound like a cold or the flu? Too late to go to the doctor today.

Sounds like a cold to me.People complain of having "the flu" a lot when it's just a cold, sinus infection, etc. Influenza will knock you on your a$$, with severe body pain and total exhaustion!! Other symptoms are high fever and dry cough. If you do think you might have flu see a doctor asap because there are flu meds that shorten the length and severity of flu, but you need to start them quickly!
Nausea and vomiting are not influenza symptoms, though it can occur rarely.

In general, the flu is worse than the common cold, and symptoms such as fever, body aches, extreme tiredness, and dry cough are more common and intense. Colds are usually milder than the flu. People with colds are more likely to have a runny or stuffy nose. Flu also comes with a high body temperature.

If you have body aches then its the flu
You should also have a stong fever and hevey nasal congestion
I would go to the doctor anyways though.
They may be able to prescibe some anti-viral drugs.
And the flu is NOT a bactrial infection as a another user has stated Both the cold and flu are viral infections

Probably just a cold. You get a fever with the flu, and its usually high. Drink plenty of fluids and eat chicken soup. You'll feel better in a couple of days. Take tylenol and drink hot tea.
