how much more effective is your exercise if you eat protein?

Muscles are formed with protein. So how much more effective is your muscle building exercise if you eat protein (like eggs, beans, meat, or an actual protein bar) before, during, and after your exercise? If possible, I'm looking for percent increase, or something like that. What are the studies done that have proven this?

There isnt an exact percentage because the are too many variables. But let me break it down into little steps. When you work out, you are tearing muscle fibers by putting them under stress. They then rebuid themselves(ie healing the tears) and make themselves larger to better cope with that stress they are put under. Protein is the building block of muscle. Without protein after you work out, you muscles have a hard time rebuilding at all, much less rebuilding bigger. You need protein, whether in a shake, bar, meal or whatever otherwise your actually going to LOSE MUSCLE! It cant repair itself, so it shrinks to cover the tears! Typically you should get at least 20 grams of protein after every workout MINIMUM! An Ideal ammout would be 50-75 grams of protein immediatly afterward, and 1g protein per lb body weight over the course of the day.
