Annoying things workers do in drive-thru?

I work fast food, and I would like to know, from a customer standpoint, what are annoying things workers do while you are in drive-thru?

Update:

List the top ten, if you can think of them.

I've been on both sides of that window, so I'm more accepting than most when it comes to things that happen. Some I DON'T understand (and the "you" isn't directed toward the asker, it's just a general thing):

    1. Not reading back the order. I don't care if it IS on the little screen, I order my stuff specially made, and I want to know that YOU know to look for it.

    2. Not getting the order correct, ESPECIALLY when you're not busy. I mean, come ON!

    3. When giving change, not counting it back to me (yes, this involves first grade math!), and not giving me the coins first and THEN the cash. Makes MUCH less of a mess if I get the coins for my hand FIRST and THEN the cash to put in my wallet. Fishing coins out of my carpet is NOT what I consider fun.

    4. Not putting enough dipping sauce/ketchup/etc in the bag. Yes, I know you're limited, but the average "1-2 dipping sauces" at our favorite golden arches is SO not enough. Nobody REALLY misses them anyhow, so what does it hurt? Besides, it goes bad (unless it's honey) so it's better to give it away.

    5. Not being specific on which drink is which. I always used a little felt-tip marker on the lid to write it. And if I'm alone in my car and ordering more than 1 drink, ALWAYS offer a cupholder.

Source(s): I think that covered it all...I've seen things blamed that REALLY aren't the window person's fault, but those things listed were always things I got right. Hope it helped! *grin*

I hate the people ahead of me who apparently didn't think until that *instant* about what they wanted. Never mind there is a menu visible before the menu you order at. Then you see their heads ducking back into the car to ask the other occupants what they want. It's a drive through. The menu hasn't changed in 30 years for most of these places. I have a friend that has never just ordered a combo. She's has to customize every sandwich. Every one. Like her kids never had to slide off a tomato in their lives: "I want a number three (my order). I also want the bacon cheeseburger, but plain - nothing on it. Then I want a bacon cheeseburger, with ketchup only. Can I get the bacon cheeseburger without the cheese, but with everything else? And a grilled chicken sandwich with no mayo, just honey mustard and tomato. And a bacon cheeseburger with everything on it EXCEPT the tomato. Now for the sides, with the first sandwich I want large onion rings, then a large fries, and a chocolate shake - You don't have chocolate? Well, then I don't want the bacon cheeseburger with the ketchup only either... blah blah blah... and EXTRA sauce!" By the time she's done, *I* want to strangle her from the passenger seat, never mind the girl in the window. For stupid speaker tricks, I agree with the person complaining about that stupid announcement for a combo, then another voice asks for your order. To be even more confusing, some places the person taking the order must say "Welcome to (wherever), it's a great day! Would you like to try a combo or our new Fiesta Chicken Zinger Wrap?" Whatever happened to just "Can I take your order?" or "how can I help you?"

I think the workers in drive-thru are mostly pretty great. The best customer service you can give me is if you give me the right food that I asked for. On occasion they'll forget to put an item in.

I hate it when they fail to put in napkins with the order, especially when the food is normally sloppy anyway.

I hate it when they talk so fast you have no idea what they are saying when they read back your order. Most of the time, the sound is lousy on the speakers at most places and even on a good day it is tough to understand.

I don't care whether they smile or not, but it certainly does make a difference to most people even if the order is right.

    1) socializing with the previous customer when their order is completed and they know they have other customers that haven't been waited on yet

    2) socializing with other co-workers, they never acknowledge you, or even give you the price, they do the minimum it takes to get the job done

(both of these happen not just at fast food places, but retail places as well)

honestly i went through a drive through once and the person shoved both food and drink at me at the same time i was trying to give them the money for the purchase

when i said could you hang on a minute theyre like WELL WE DONT HAVE ALL DAY

funny thing was, i was the only one in the drive through

on another occasion, we were in the drive through, and the vehicle in front of us decided it was social hour with the waitstaff.

    2 separate restaurants btw

I went threw the McDonald's drive threw and the most annoying thing I saw was the worker taking the other persons order over her head set and just rolling her eyes at them at everything they said. Shaking her head etc........ It made me wonder what her expressions were when I ordered my food!

    1) They dont speak or understand English very well. I'm not a racist because I came to the US when I was 15 and I speak fluent english. I just dont understand how people can go to other countries and expect to go thru their day to day activities without understanding the main language of that country.

forget to put all of my order in the bag. this has happened regularly.

too much ice in my drink.

    no napkins to go.

    cold french fries....yuk!

pick at their face... nothing like a pimple face guy picking.

drop my change on the ground...although this could be partly my fault.

dirty clothing....that's pretty annoying when they are dirty.

they don't smile or acknowledge me.
