Has anyone used the Disney's Magical Express service?

My family and I have been to Walt Disney World many times, but we have always either rented a car or used the Mears Motor Shuttle to get from the airport to our resort. I was wondering if anyone has any input on the Magical Express luggage service. I am a little hesitant to not pick up my own bags and take them with me to the hotel. Am I getting nervous for no reason? I love the Disney service and have never had a problem, ever. What do you think?

My boyfriend and I have used Disney's Magical Express the past two summers and have loved it! We'll be using it this summer as well. I've not yet had any problems with the service. it's such a quick pick-up from the airport, it's wonderful. Since we don't have to get our own luggage we're on the bus and on our way to Disney's Polynesian Resort no more than 20 minutes after the plane lands. The buses have TVs that show stuff about the Walt Disney World Resort and gets you even more excited to finally arrive. We've never waited more than a few hours for our luggage. This past summer they arrived at out Guest Room around three hours later. The summer before about four hours to recieve our luggage. However, it really wasn't a problem. Most airlines allow two carry-on bags. Just to be safe we packed on with an extra outfit and a few other necessities, in case it took longer for our luggage to come. We always go off and do something as soon as we arrive anyway. We usually go to the Boardwalk for lunch at the ESPN Club and check out the shops, so we don't really need our luggage right when we get there anyway.

I'm sure your family will enjoy the experience with Disney's Magical Express. If you haven't already, check out the Disney's Magical Express FAQ section of the Walt Disney World website. It has all the information you could possibly need and, specifically, information about when your luggage should be delivered.

Actually, Magical Express is run by Mears, they just make it a little more "magical" for Disney. It is one of the benefits to onsite guests.

I've not personally used it, but I know some people that did, and I've also read some stories online. Some people have had great experiences, but some have had problems. One situation was a family that was in Disney for a wedding, used ME and had all their wedding clothes in the suitcase (not really sure why) but the luggage was lost along with the wedding dress, tuxs, etc.

I read all the time where people's luggage is lost, or it doesn't arrive for a few days. Several times when I was on the Disney Cruise I have had other peoples luggage delivered to my room. The ship is much smaller than Disney World and has fewer rooms, so if they have a hard time getting luggage to the right places on the ship, think of all the problems when you consider all the rooms at Disney. Most of the luggage is eventually found, as long as it isn't delivered to the wrong room and the person keeps it.

Just be sure if you plan to use it that you bring an overnight bag with some clothes and any essentials that you may need, i.e. medicines, diapers, etc. I believe they still allow people to carry their own luggage, but it can be a bit of a hassel getting on and off the bus.

Personally, I always get a private transfer so that I can get to my resort fast. That is another thing you have to consider, with Magical Express it can take quite a bit more time to get to your resort. Not so bad, except in a few situations. For example, if you want to get the parks fast, have something reserved that you need to get to, or have a flight very early in the morning. Factoring in the the two hours or so you should arrive early at the airport, plus the additional time you need to take on Magical Express, you may need to leave at 4 in the morning to get to a 7 am flight.

If you want to save the money, it is worth giving it a try. Some people love it, some people have problems. I think I would rather rent a car so you can get around Orlando, if you don't mind the driving.

Have a great time in Disney!

We used it in October and had absolutely no problems. From the airport to Pop Century, we got the "guided tour" spiel, and going back to the airport we watched a movie on the pop down screens - no worries... they do a great job of ensuring your luggage is fine and right where it needs to be.

    Have fun at Disney World!!

I have not used the service before I will be using it in Sept and I too am a little nervous about it. But you can always go get your own luggage and take it to the coach if you would feel more comfortable.

We used the service this past August and had no problems whatsoever. Our flight home was very early and I was very stressed out too, but we got to the airport without any problems and our luggage got there too!

    Enjoy your trip--I love Disney!

It's free I think and many people say it's great. I would go for it.
