Internet connectivity issues - help!?

Sometime last night, my internet connection went down. I connect directly to the router via a cable, but my roommates connect wirelessly. The internet is connected and working on both computers. I checked my network connection via the control panel, and it does say LAN enabled. I tried unplugging the cable and restarting, clearing the cache and restarting, and nothing worked. Any ideas?

Update:

"The internet is connected and working on both computers" refers to my roommate's computers. Not mine. Or else I wouldn't be posting.

Update 2:

I also ran a full virus scan with symantec and ran adaware and search and destroy last night with no unusual results.

Update 3:

I'm back up - hitting the reset button on the router actually worked - I didn't think it would because I unplugged and restarted a few times, but that did the trick! Didn't even know we had a reset button. Thanks for all the answers!

    You might try unplugging the router for 15 seconds and then plug it back in. I have had lots of issues with my routers recently although they seem to work opposite of your problem; no wireless connection. You should probably unplug all cables, then connect cable first, wait a couple minutes just in case it needs to update, then reconnect the rest of the connections. There should also be a reset on the back of the unit that you may won't to push as well. Hope this is helpful.

    Some things to try:

    1) Make sure that you have not accidently clicked the "work off line" - check tools - uncheck work offline

    2) Open the command prompt - Start/Accessories- Command Prompt - type in: ipconfig. Did you see your IP number? If not then you are not being assigned one - could be your ISP - could be your NIC card. Also check the Ethernet cable that comes from your router to your computer - on both ends.

    can you go to the settings page of your router by http://192.168.1.1/ in the IE address bar....if you can then it is connected and your browser has issues and if you cannot then try to repair your NIC by right click and then choosing repair option on the NIC icon in network connections

    and the other thing that you can try is just plain disabling and enabling your NIC (just right click on Local area connection and click disable and then enable) if you are not able to open settings page

    kindly revert back if you are able to open the settings page of your router

    Just run the networking wizard on your PC again! Connect the PC to the router as it was, click start, programs, accessories, communications, netowrk wizard.

    Try to reset your router and disable then enable your internet connection.
