How do you get candle wax off of a hardwood floor?
A jar candle fell and spilled wax all over my hardwood floor. I was able to scrape most of it up, but you can still see where the wax was. What is the best way to clean this mess up with the least amount of damage to my floor? Thanks.
Thanks for all the great answers. I tried a few of them and a combination of several suggestions worked great. I got the wax up.

Use a hot, hot rag ( hot enough to melt the wax) or hair blow dryer to melt the wax and wipe it up. Do not use a scraper, or any scouraging pad, you could gouge the wood leaving scratches in it.

The microwaved wet rag is fine if you don't mind the second degree burns. I found the hair drier works magic! Just heat a small patch at a time until the wax begins to liquify, then wipe it clean with a paper towel. People used to pay good money to get that good of a wax on the floor.

Hi..i would try hand cleaner like the mechanics use. It is cheap and can be bought at Walmart or Canadian tire. Rub it on, let sit for a half hour, then clean as usual. I use it for all kinds of stains and cant see it hurting the floor at all. i used it on a grease stain on a baby blanket i had just made and it came out great. i also recently used it on a deep dark rust stain in my carpet and it took almost all of it out. ( i have to go back and work on it this weekend)

Place brown paper over the melted wax and iron with a preheated iron (on low). The wax will melt and stick to the paper. Keep rearranging the paper and ironing until it's all come up. Don't leave the iron on the paper too long.Good luck and cheers
