Lose weight if you are overweight. Exercise. Cut out salt, saturated fat, and trans fats. Celery lowers BP. If this doesn't do it get to a dr. to get on some BP lowering meds. It's not worth it to have untreated high blood pressure. You are risking a stroke, kidney damage, heart problems, and other serious conditions.

Begin with diet changes as has been mentioned. Reduce your salt intake, if you are overweight lose weight, exercise, perhaps take up meditation.

If these efforts do not reduce your blood pressure than you should discuss medications with your doctor.

The people who are telling you that blood pressure medications don't work are ignorant or malicious

all of the above and if still high(>120/80) check with doctor. The meds nowadays are fantastic. 30 years ago if you had malignant hypertension (eg>220/110)your lifespan was quite short. Now it is rare to even have to go to a hospital. tg for drug companies!!

changing your diet or wieght loss is the best way, sometimes you just cant do it on your own and may need meds, like me. It stinks having to take a pill every day but the risk of not doing it could be bad. Talk with your doctor about what is best for you

Don't make them prescribe any tablets for you. Understand that once this is done you will have to live with it for your lifetime. I used to drink garlic tea in the morning, but it played havoc with my breath. You could always take the tablets though. No smell or anything, and since it is not prescribed you wont get hooked on it. You might try getting rid of the thing that is causing your pressure to go up. Take life easier and enjoy it, I say.

Quit smoking. Get regular exercise. Eat healthy foods. If you can't pronouce the ingredients, don't eat it. Stay away from any restaurant that will serve you while you're at the wheel of your car. The list goes on.

Start by getting your blood pressure checked by your doctor and see if it is serious enough for you to need medication. If you are in normal ranges, you need to learn how to control your stress and watch what you eat to be healthier.

Eat healthier less fatty foods. Try more fresh fruit and vegetables. Try to stay away from prepared, or fast foods. And of course, use very little salt.
