To whom asked about wedding flowers. Silk flowers are not as expensive, are they?

I agree with the other posters. Realistic looking silk flowers can be as expensive as fresh flowers. We decided to use silk flowers since we were getting married on a day where fresh flowers were at a premium. After further thought, I decided having the silk flowers was a good idea because my attendants can keep them as keepsakes. All of my female members of our wedding party still have their bouquets and corsages on display. Even my brother, who was our officiant, still has his as well. Our silk flowers were such high quality no one could tell the difference.

In my research, and that of the brides at the Knot for example, silk flowers are really more expensive than fresh. You can get fresh flowers very inexpensively through wholesale markets such as freshroses.com. You may even have luck finding a professional florist willing to arrange them for you. But the only time silks will be cheaper than fresh is if you want exotic flowers.
The only inexpensive silk flowers I have seen are in the craft section at Walmart or the dollar store.

Honestly, the decent looking silk flowers are equally, if not more, expensive than real. A good florist will work within your budget. I'm getting amazing tall centerpieces with lillies & such for $20 each. The cheaper silk flowers look like they are cheap & silk. Price some nicer flowers & everything you'd need to make whatever you're making. Then check with a florist & see what can be done for the same, or less.

Silk flowers that are not the cheap craft store kind but actually look nice can be quite expensive. I knew someone who used silk flowers for her wedding and bought them online, and she ended up spending a small fortune.

Some times they can be, but they don't have to be. The way I look at it, a wedding day is very special, and there's nothing more beautiful than having real flowers.

No, they are much cheaper but MUCH MUCH MUCH more tacky............PLEASE do not have silk flowers if you intend to have a traditional wedding. If you're doing a Reno/Vegas type thing, then fine, but if you want a "real"wedding, flowers will be a large part of the expense.
