First off, the person who said it is not our right to own, posses, use, and anything else about firearms should read the constitution, federalist papers, and the personal writings of our founding fathers to see exactly why it IS a right. Grow up tard.

Here are the reasons I do:

    1) Hunting

    2) Sport shooting, i.e. target and clays

    3) Protection

    4) Investment, guns hold and grow value, especially limited editions, or historically valued pieces.

    5) Heritage

I don't live in a big city with idiots who never learned the proper way to handle and use a firearm. I live in the country were we hunt for food, not sport. It helps supply a healthier food source than what city slickers get, even in their so-called organic sections.

You can have my firearms ......all you have to do is peel them from my cold dead fingers. Any liberal that wants to try feel free.

Our founding fathers in this country held the idea that firearms ownership was not JUST a right but was the duty of all able bodied Americans. I happen to agree. But even with out that background I would still own and carry a firearm as the police can not and are not always able to be where they are most needed. Anyone foolish enough to break into my house becomes a threat to my family. I WILL protect my family with what ever amount of force I deem to be appropriate.

The United States Constitution says "the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." What does this mean? It means I, or anyone else in the United States, can own and carry any weapon they can afford anywhere they go in America. It also means that anyone who infringes upon this right, and I carry a little business card that specifies court cases I can use as precedent in a court room if someone wants to challenge me, can be held in a court of law for violating my right to keep and bear arms. No one needs a reason to keep and bear arms but there a couple should be blatantly obvious but self-defense is the primary one and this goes far beyond self-defense against common thugs and criminals.

The bottom line is that I can hold anyone personally liable for violating any of my civil rights including my right to keep and bear arms. This includes holding them in a criminal suit as well as a separate civil suit that include awarded damages that may very well include me winding up with their assets to include their home, vehicles and financial assets.

The liberals don't want you to know any of this. They just want everyone to hand over their weapons without a fight. The Nazi's did this in Germany in the early 1930's.

One doesn't need a "legal" reason for owning a handgun. If you are a law abiding citizen of the U.S., all you need is a license to own one.

As far as i know you do not need a reason to want to own a handgun. I had a handgun that was registered to me and all i ever used it for was target practice no other reason.

since my firts experience in the military I have enjoyed firing the weapon,

for target practice -- it's an enjoyable sport.

in todays world, think they are justified for home defense --

although I don't own a handgun, I do own shotguns and rifles

for hunting. Course living in a rural area, where most citizens are

hunters, we don't have much b&e, mugging and such (after all,

the perpetrator would be playing Russian roulette ---who has a

    gun ???)

I want to (and do) own (a) handgun(s) because it is my constitutional right to do so, and it allows me to provide for my own personal defense and safety against those to violate the law. It will wield it only when necessary, and as a last resort, yet trust me, I will use it.

    Self Defense.

    1. Home and personal protection

    2. Our founding fathers belief that an armed citizenry keeps a government in check

    3. Hunting

    4. Because I want to/because I like them

    5. because I can

    6. 2nd amendment

A hand gun is good mostly for self-defense. Rifles and shot guns are a little bulky for shooting someone coming in your window at 3am.
