Any advice on choosing home recording equipment?

I'm a hypnotist creating free mp3's for my website. I've been eyeing a Marantz CDR300 Portable CD-R/RW Recorder. Does anyone have any feedback on this unit or recommendations for other equipment?

    If this is truly for home, why not just use your computer's sound card? Record directly to the hard drive, edit, then save as an MP3.

    Or are you recording off-site performances?
