I'll give the Al Gore fans.......?

a chance to justify these "carbon offsets" which allow him to buy off having the mansion in Tennessee and flying on private jets. I heard them compared to the "environmental indulgences" but if someone gives a good defense, I might be willing to listen.

Update:

So much for the "Gore in 2008" groundswell

""...Carbon credits is just a variation on the same theme. Developers pay companies to do this all the time. "

Argle, thats true but we arent talking about companies for one....

liberals are always complaining about the advantages of the rich.

Be consistent then. Why should a rich man like Al, be able to buy off his own personal irresponsibliity while someone who hasnt raked in the dollars telling everyone else to do as I say and not as I do, might not be able to afford to buy someones carbon credits.

How much do these carbon credits go for anyway? maybe I can sell some to Al, cuz im sure this conservative leaves less of a carbon footprint than the Al.

Maybe I can become a carbon footprint broker, I think im going to take a trip to Amish country and set up a carbon credit business where I broker carbon credits for the amish to hollywood idiots.

I don't defend Gore the man, I defend the chance of offsetting pollution by using credits. It's like mitigation of land. If you destroy (say) wetlands while building a mall, you can "make up for it" by creating wetlands somewhere else. The government allows that all the time. Carbon credits is just a variation on the same theme. Developers pay companies to do this all the time.

These Carbon Credits are just Gore paying someone else to conserve so he doesn't have to. Great example there Mr. Gore.

Ooops, I'm not really a fan.

If you think that man is strong enough to change the climate on this planet then I bet you believe the wrestle mania is true wrestling.

Yeah we might stink it up a bit but this planet has changed climates several time WITHOUT the SUVs...

All you have to do is look at Mars. The northern Ice Caps are getting smaller. The last time I checked there were no people on Mars driving cars.

Gore - your smoking pot again arn't you?

You don't seem to understand the basic global warming religion. Those rules and guidelines professed by the elite among us don't apply to them. It is only us peons and serfs that are supposed to bow down before their infinite wisdom and apply this newfound knowledge. After all they are too important to give up their mansions and jets in the name of saving the planet.

F*ck Al Gore. He's the one who got us into this mess by losing the election in 2000

he spends a lot of money on energy costs because his local energy provider gives him the option of using green energy! I learned this in school.
